Between Sri Lanka and Italy, we spend a few days in Zurich, Switzerland. This ICM photo was taken at a bus stop in a suburb of Zurich. The bus stop is covered by an artistic red architecture. I have superimposed several shots. Every shot has different exif data but ISO 100 and 11 mm is common. The main shot was taken with a focus of 2.2 and 1/4 second exposure time. One of the shots I had to make a little wider with the help of AI so that they were all roughly the same size. I did this with the AI function "resize image" of the mobile app PhotoStudio.

Excerpt from www.discoverhongkong.com/ca/place-to-go/victoriano.html:

Created by Spanish artist Victoriano, this mural perfectly complements the lively and bustling streets of Sheung Wan with the motifs of people and printing presses. What makes this piece extra special is that you can view it through an augmented reality platform on your mobile phone, where you can interact and admire the piece in new and dynamic ways. In particular, the moving images of the printing press slowly coming back to life makes this piece truly unique. If you want to try it out, download the mobile app to view Victoriano’s artwork in full animated glory.

After work i climbed up a massive rock and took this picture. I drive past here everyday and wanted to get up there for a while now! Update ....... just went on flickr mobile app and my phone went crazy! ..... Thanks for the add to Explore, made my day : )

The debate about the best camera is still argued although it has been settled long ago.

Yesterday I decided to take advantage of a brief bright interlude in the recently miserable weather and went out for a short walk with my 'always' with me Sony compact cam.

Within a couple of minutes I had something t point it to but shock horror the battery went flat and I foolishly failed to check. OOPS!

Luckily I had my iPhone 8 with me. After 45' I managed to take a dozen shots and IMHO more than half are keepers.

A pair of quail seems to be nesting somewhere in my yard and they show up at feeders daily.

I have been terribly busy this Spring but am taking a quick moment to post some of the yard birds I have had visit and hopefully stay in my yard. I also finally had some bullocks orioles and black chinned hummingbirds show up but I haven't had time to get a photo.

I do a lot with the flickr mobile app and it is still broken with the system changes flickr recently did. So that makes it even harder for me to get on flickr.

I appreciate all comments and faves and hope to catch up soon.

Back to Greece for the festive period and as the weather was really nice (with the exception of two days when it snowed even in Athens city centre!) it would be a waste to not go out for some landscape photography. A quick search on the web and using some mobile apps revealed enough locations with potential not that far from Athens.

This location is in a very industrial area called Aspropyrgos and it is the proof that you can find beauty in the most unlikely places. This one was captured on my second visit to this place as the first time there were big waves crushing on the wall and I had forgotten my jacket...

In Curcao it's not hard to find a hidden beach with no around for a Cinematic photoshoot - and you have to love that.

I've moved to Curacao partly to co-created a new mobile app for the Island called OTRA GUIDE that will help you find everything in Curacao - including hidden beaches - and we are expanding to other cities soon.

I've been shooting the images for the travel app for the past year in a vibrant and cinematic style ...

I usually only post one of these when I have something to gripe about, but now that Yahoo and Verizon are long gone, the SmugMug ownership team behind Flickr seems to be doing a good job of keeping things at Flickr on an even keel.

At this point, I intend to keep paying for "Pro" membership... even though, as with everything else, the price has increased rather significantly. It's well worth the expense to me to have a stable and advertising-free online experience.

The Flickr mobile app still sucks, though, but I don't really care. The entire Mobile-verse kinda sucks in general.

5 Secrets of Successful Mobile App Developers

Mobile application developers have never had it better – or worse.

On the one hand, the research firm Gartner predicts that by 2015 there will be 1 billion iPad users and 2.5 billion smartphone owners. For app developers, this means the potential c...

Happy (belated) Halloween from your favorite big-nosed bearded brick builder Baron von Brunk!

Although this photo was shot and edited in the week leading up until Halloween, I didn't release it on Flickr on the 31st of October due to issues with using the mobile app with my tablet while I was on vacation. This shot consists of my signature Amish magnifigure who's holding a pumpkin head with his new arms. I took this picture in my cemetery scene with hard color lighting pointing towards the display.

I took two sets of photos: with a fog machine, and without. Since I'm still learning how to properly use a fog machine with close macro photography, those particular shots were too hazy and improperly lit, hence I chose the earlier shots with just colored lighting.

I received this note from Flickr explaining that the price for my Pro subscription would increase. I'm a bit torn on what to do. I like Flickr a lot and in the grand scheme of things £60 isn't a huge amount for unlimited storage of photos and videos. I'll probably reluctantly renew and give them one more year. He's the thing though, there have been no useful improvements to the web interface or the mobile app. There are a number of bugs still outstanding which are all well documented. This is especially disappointing as the Smugmug team have had over a year to implement these fixes. New features such as printing don't really benefit me in the slightest. The much promised improvements to communities haven't materialised. It's a shame that they couldn't give more over the past year to really get me excited about the future. I know Sumgmug have a philosophy of not taking on capital and having the finances in top shape, but sometimes this hurts innovation. Burning cash is no problem with a solid business case for growth. I worry that the lack of investment that is badly needed will be the death nail of Flickr.

With over 190GB on my account, I'm under no illusion I'm a 'heavy' Flickr user. I get that bills need to be paid, and I can afford to support Flickr. However I think I will decline and review in a year or two. I can always re-upload all my photos if I decide to come back. I'm not fussed about the views and favourite counts. While I appreciate them, all that is, is a historical number.

I'm not web developer, but I am a marketer. I also have a huge amount of experience in digital consumer subscriptions (toot toot!). Price increases like this without any incremental value are proven to increase churn and reduce average customer lifetime value. The cost of acquiring a new paid subscriber is so much more than keeping the existing, so screwing another $10 a year of out the existing user base might look good on paper, but when or if they churn from Flickr (and all the photos above 1k are deleted) it's going to cost a hell of a lot more to incentives them to come back.

That's my situation. If I don't renew, I'm probably gone for good.

Cheers and all the best

Tapatalk is a cool mobile app to access multiple subscribed forums and social platforms, but I use it in a wordplay: talking in a tapas bar :)

Tapas bars were always full and alive with talk (sometimes loud :), everyday people, and occasional oddball characters...

Now they are empty, most are closed, and life has gone hiding inside hoes, behind curtains and locked doors :( I do hope it won't be for long and the talk (as well as the tapas) will be back!

The usual comparison between colour and b&w is for the curious; this time I seem to have made up my mind and have no dilemmas: BW is my preference.

150 young people gathered in the CHQ Building in Dublin today to celebrate their creation and invention with technology over the past year.

These young people are participants in the national TechSpace movement.

TechSpace is an afterschool programme that inspires young people to become digital creators, inventors and makers through free access to hardware, software, trained educators and creative mentors.

“TechSpace works beautifully,” says Jen Hesnan, a TechSpace Educator based in Galway and working with young people on the autistic spectrum, “It channels young people’s point of interest into something they can socially engage in and exhibit to others. Whether it’s sport, dance, history or anything else that the they are interested in, creative facilitation techniques ensure that any young person who comes in the door can find a purpose and have fun with their peers”.

The program teaches the fundamentals of the digital world, while developing skills in problem solving, creativity, communications and teamwork.

Typical activities in the areas of creative media and STEAM include animation and video production, mobile app development, music production, digital photography, web design, programming, electronics and circuitry.

Over 150 young people, who take part in the TechSpace after school program, showcased the work they have completed over the past year. This work is in the area of creative technology (video and photography projects) and ‘maker’ technology (electronics, programming, tech DIY).

The attendees took part in workshops, received advice from inspirational speakers, and were inspired for the year ahead.

CEO of Camra Education, John Fitzsimons the organisation that delivers TechSpace nationally said, “It is fantastic to see the educational outcomes being achieved by these young people, as they develop new skills in key areas for their future success”.
