Veteran MOB railcar 11 was built in 1905. Now preserved on the Blonay-Chamby line, it remains available for occasional use on special trains over the MOB and is seen here leaving Allieres on a special trip to Gstaad.
It is hauling a saloon/bar carriage originally from the Bernina Bahn.
Not a great photo. I shot through the car window as I did not want to disturb them. Emus can in my experience be very flighty.
This is the first time I have ever seen a mob in the wild. If I am lucky, I might see one or two together.

Another Lake Brenig shot showing a cuckoo being mobbed by pipits while it was perched.. I was unaware of this behaviour before.
This morning started off normally as most mornings do...I got up, let the Pugs out do do their "business" , grabbed a cup of coffee and retrieved the newspaper from the bushes where the paper boy had thrown it. Finally with everything taken care of I settled into my easy chair for my Sunday morning ritual of relaxation. Then I heard it......a noise coming from the kitchen. I put down the paper, got up and rounded the corner. In an instant I was caught right in the middle of it. A "Flash Mob". It started out with just two and then it grew and grew and grew until there were over 30 No. 2 HB yellow pencils singing all the songs about yellow they could remember..... Goodbye Yellow Brick Road by Elton John, Yellow Submarine by the Beatles, Mellow Yellow by Donavan, The Yellow Rose of Texas (author Unknown) and several others before closing out with Big Yellow Taxi as sung by Counting Crows. Then, as quickly as it began, it was over. I don't know if I had too much La Crema last night or I daydreamed it. It sure seemed real to me.
It must have been real because one of them sent me this video they posted on youtube. If you look hard enough you can see them sprinkled throughout the crowd in their yellow slickers. You can even see the Big Yellow Taxi at the 2:40 mark as he points his arm and sings the words.

Back to a few pics from Eastern State Penitentiary.
This cell belonged to one of America's most infamous gangsters - Al Capone. Needless to say, they didn't all look like this. :)
Fear is not all bad. When we are young, fear can help establish safe boundaries and warn us when we are approaching the limits that are safeguards to our lives and minds.
But inordinate fears are not fun and most of us have them. My wife’s homeland contains 21 of the world’s most deadly snakes. Aussies also have the some of the largest spiders known to mankind, some that can even leap at people though that ability is probably overrated. Don’t even get me started on the size of their crocs, some about the length of a semi although my wife says that may be an exaggeration.
Put me near any of those creatures in my dreams at night and I run in place trying to escape. Inordinate fear? Yes, but it is not real and the chances of it happening to me in real life is no longer a threat.
When I observe large eagles hightailing it away from a comfortable perched when harassed by crows I often thought they were afraid for some reason. But bird scientists tell us that isn’t so.
Crows are intelligent birds and fiercely defend their nests and fledglings, sometimes even vulnerable adults. When they spot an eagle or other raptor, they will call for help and will join a “mob” of other crows to harass their enemy of the moment in order to drive them away.
Eagles are not flighty in spirit like a smaller bird and will simply ignore crows until the harassment reaches a point where the eagle becomes fed up. Eagles don’t fight back but simply pick up their gear and move on.
Now that I think of it, that’s not bad advice sometimes.

As we were walking up the hill we passed a number of large mobs of iconic Australian fauna. They were sufficiently far away and in the bright light and dark shade became somewhat silhouetted. Woodlands Historic Park, Greenvale with the FFF+ group.
