This photo was taken at the Martin Luther King Jr. National Historic Park in Atlanta, GA about 10 years ago.
There are several very nice memorials in Washington DC, but the MLK is one of my favorites. It is beautifully located adjacent to the Tidal Basin and especially nice in Spring.
As typical, it was crowded last week when I visited. I found the angle I wanted then waited for the area to clear for a shot. I only got about 2 seconds before someone entered the scene. View LARGE if you like.

As you walk around the National Mall there are lots of interesting architectural features to see. The monuments and buildings are the most obvious, but I also like benches, railings, bridges and the like. This is a simple shot of some railing near the Jefferson Memorial / Tidal Basin ..... blue sky at the top, fall foliage that skirts the perimeter of the basin provides the warm tones, the white in the center is the Dr. Martin Luther King Memorial (about a kilometer across the water) and the blue at the bottom is the water in the Tidal Basin.

More blossoms than visitors at the MLK Memorial during the pandemic. Martin Luther King, Jr., Memorial, Washington, DC.
I've lived in Washington DC almost 20 years and I've visited the National Mall dozens of times, but I'd never been to the top of the Washington Monument until last weekend. It was quite an experience. Cherry Blossoms in bloom and a kite festival on the Mall brought HUGE crowds to the area, but it was worth the effort. The views from 500-ft were unique and spectacular.
The focus here is the MLK Memorial surrounded by cherry blossoms. Tucked into a corner of the Tidal Basin, it's a beautiful location. View LARGE for the most detail.

I don't know how these rubber bracelets became so popular, but they really serve to remind us of some just causes. A little while ago I featured a pink one that reminded us about the fight against breast cancer. Today I'm featuring 2 of my favorites: The black one with the silver plate is for the U.S. National Slavery Museum in Fredericksburg, Virginia (more info at www.usnationalslaverymuseum.org/home.asp) and the blue one is for the Martin Luther King, Jr. National Memorial Project in Washington, DC (http://www.mlkmemorial.org/ for more information).

is not where he stands in moments of comfort and convenience, but where he stands at times of challenge and controversy.
