A few weeks ago, after a lot of gray days, I made my way to the light on the heights of the Hunsrück and found what I was looking for.
While it was completely clear outside the forest, there was light fog and some hoarfrost in the wood, a wonderful mixture that captivated me for a few hours.
Vor einigen Wochen, nach etlichen grauen Tagen, machte ich mich auf den Weg zum Licht auf den Höhen des Hunsrücks und wurde fündig.
Während es außerhalb des Waldes völlig klar war, hatte es im Wald leichten Nebel und etwas Raureif, eine herrliche Mischung, die mich einige Stunden in ihren Bann zog.
Sesame Knot Rolls
Challah Recipe (Marylyn Pisseri)
1 cup warm water
1/2 cup white sugar
1 tablespoon honey
1/2 cup vegetable oil
2 1/2 teaspoons salt
2 eggs, room temperature
4 cups bread flour
2 1/4 teaspoons bread machine yeast
1 egg, beaten
1 tablespoon water
2 Tbsp powdered sugar
Place warm water, sugar, honey, vegetable oil, salt, 2 eggs, flour and yeast in the pan of the bread machine in the order recommended by the manufacturer. Select Dough cycle; press Start.
After the machine is done, take the dough out, and place it on a very lightly floured board, punch the dough down, and let rest for 5 minutes.
For challahs: Divide the dough in half. Then divide into 3 equal pieces, roll into ropes about 12 to 14 inches, and braid into a loaf. Do the same with the remaining other half. Gently put the loaves on a greased cookie sheet, mist with water, cover loosely with plastic wrap, and let rise for 1 to 1 1/2 hours in a warm, draft free place, until double in size.
For rolls: Divide dough into 12 rolls. Shape into long pieces and make a knot. Let rise for at least an hour.
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). In a small bowl, beat together 1 egg, 1 tablespoon water and 2 Tbsps powdered sugar.
Brush risen loaves with egg mixture. Bake in preheated oven for about 20 to 25 minutes.
The word "hoodoo" means to bewitch, which is what Bryce Canyon's rock formations surely do.
Actually there is a mixture of Spires and hoodoos in this image.
In common usage, the difference between Hoodoos and spires is that hoodoos have a variable thickness often described as having a “totem pole-shaped body.
A spire, on the other hand, has a smoother profile or uniform thickness that tapers from the ground upward.
I’ve been looking for street scenes without people recently... I took this in our neighbourhood.. which we really like!
It has everything you need... public transport, a huge park, the centre of town... all just round the corner!
And the area has not... yet?.. been ‘gentrified’ so there’s a great mixture of people. We’ve lived her for a very long time!

Spring in the garden is a mixture of delight and chore! Chore in that the feeds wake and spread like fury. Delight as creation wakes and all manner of bugs, birds and buds are to be seen and admired. I trimmed the climbing rose back over the weekend, it would be wrong not to take a photo ( or 20 right?!). Thanks for stopping
The Toronto Carpet Factory Building on Mowat Avenue and its surrounding campus of industrial structures is an example of 1900s' turn of the century industrial architecture and currently houses a mixture of design, technology, media and marketing companies.

1889 and the 1920s. Ongoing restoration.

A whisk is a cooking utensil which can be used to blend ingredients smooth or to incorporate air into a mixture. In winter months creativity is a must for insect photographers and so I started exploring our kitchen drawers.
This little stretch of coastline on the Moray Firth is one of my favourite to visit. There are some great rocky features that constantly yield new compositions. As the fair weather continues, I decided to go for very long exposures once again to get some action in the sky. I blended this image with some slower long exposures to show the activity in the sea as well to give a mixture of textures in the landscape. This was photographed near Findochty in Morayshire, Scotland.
Macro Mondays 'candy' theme.
I forgot about buying and sweets (candy) when shopping last week and had to go to the local shop on Saturday to get these Dolly Mixtures. I used to like these as a child but ate some while I was photographing yesterday and they are far too sweet, with an odd artificial flavour.
Each small sweet measures approx 1 cm
Round the south-west corner of the church, another double row of blind arcading supported by some charmingly carved corbels. These are, like the others, a mixture of animal and human heads, including at the right-hand end, a two-headed creature.
A mixture of stored power rests near the Amtrak station in Grand Junction, CO as the day's last sunlight begins to fade.
The western pasqueflowers were blooming in the areas along the Gold Gate trail (or Skyline trail) past the famous Myrtle Falls in the Mt Rainier National Park. With snow-capped mountains sitting silently over the horizon, it is a beautiful mixture of colors.

I love this awesome effect, when Laser meets acrylic blade! Impressive, how the colors mix here. The red Laser turns pink through the white/blue LED!
