Ever since we've been in the business of moving houses, I have been off playing with dolls. Everything is still packed away so I don't debox most dolls any more. That's the way it will be until I set up the doll area. Until then, this is what I have. A slice of dolly bliss. Surprising that I chose to display the Blythes over everything else. Or maybe, it's not so surprising after all.
I don't take too many photos of the girls nowadays, but I love walking up to this shelf and simply staring at them. Funny how some things change over time and some things don't.

This my sixth submission for the zodiac challenge on a FB grp. Decided to go for the angry bird pig haha..this is done using only parts from the glorp corp tribe :D
So...given how much the LEGO Hub Birds impressed (and inspired) me, I set about the task of creating some of my own.
Shown here are two of about four different Northern Cardinal body morphology experiments I made. The light bley plate is a patsy for the Mixels joint location. I'm glad I did this, as the first one I constructed with all of the actual elements present literally fell on its face. The balance was all off, and way too top-heavy. Just goes to show that, while the prototypes might look good--and even cute--getting the weight distribution is essential.
The most difficult design element was to get the Cardinal's distinctive triangular-shaped black feathers around the eyes. I took my cues from the Crimson Songbird's use of wedge plates, and it turned out to my satisfaction.

Fruitoz is a mixel tribe living peacefully in Fruitopia. Each mixel in this tribe loves eating a particular fruit and they defend the tribe with the fruit they love.

NOTE: The 3-level cannon ball stack is NOT made up of individual cannon balls, but is a 3-level tier of interlocking levels of separately grouped and injected cannon balls.

Recently these three Mixels moved into Mixopolis and founded the hit new restaurant, Good Eatz. They specialize in providing good food as speedily as possible. The excellent food and fun, upbeat atmosphere has quickly catapulted Good Eatz to being the hippest, trendiest place to eat in the whole city!
In an ideal world this would be the next wave of the LEGO Mixels theme ... unfortunately this is just my vision of what they may look like!

A revamp of the Mixels Weldos tribe in the style of Power Miners. These were two of my favorite themes growing up, so I really enjoyed working on this project. Getting the combiner model to work was a fun challenge.

The only piece that I could get to connect into the top of a cup is a Mixel sized ball joint. It's so clutched that the angle will lock into place allowing for interesting compound angle builds for things like large tree branches.
Second figure : Donatello. The front of the shell is different, the bō staff can hold a blade. I had to alter the mask color to purple as it is build in Dark Blue.
Just got Hoogi, Wizwuz, and Scorpi the other day. Never knew how much fun these little Mixel guys were. This guy was made only using the parts from the three sets.
Every year, LEGO rewards its employees with an exclusive holiday-themed set. In 2014, it was called LEGO Hub Birds. Five birds; each representing a country in which LEGO has a 'Hub', or national HQ, are depicted in the set.
Dramatically different from Tom Poulson's beautiful 'Ideas' set, these birds are constructed using Mixels joint elements. The results are wonderful articulated little critters, delightfully colorful and quite true to their natural counterparts.
