High Point's stormwater collection pond has asthetic and practical functions. It prevents flash floods in the area, and it forms a centerpiece to the park. By the time water flows here, it's been cleaned.

A view from High Point. Planners tried to reduce construction waste by saving old trees in the neighborhood. Before demolition, arborists chose trees that were healthy enough to withstand construction. Architects designed streets and homes around the trees as best as they could. Arborists gave each tree a financial value and posted them on the tree so construction crews knew how much they would owe if any of the trees were damaged. All 150 trees survived construction.

The landscaping around High Point's stormwater collection pond invites residents to walk. The community as a whole was designed to encourage walking. Phase 2 of High Point's redevelopment is underway. When completed, it will house 2000 residents--twice the number of people who lived here before.

This is another shot from my roof top at work, I was'nt planing on another post yet, but received an HVAC alarm that brought me to the roof on Sunday night. I usually bring the camera with just in case I see something different, and sure enough the traditional lights on the top of, first Target to your left, and now IDS in the center are off, giving the night time skyline a whole different look. In the lower foreground is Orchestra Hall, certainly no Sydney Opera House in looks, but second to none in acoustics, to the left of it is Peavey Plaza, a hot spot in the Summer for many musical and social events. Peavey Plaza is expected to get a much needed overhall soon. The building with the satellites on top is WCCO TV, and the wonderful Brit's Pub in the bottom left and the Hilton on the far right, Minnesota's largest hotel.

On the right the AT&T, then the Foshay behind the Oracle. 2nd Ave cuts through, and the Capella behind the Ameriprise Financial and then the Campbell Mithun.

The gaur (Bos gaurus; /ɡaʊər/), also known as the Indian bison, is a bovine native to South Asia and Southeast Asia, and has been listed as Vulnerable on the IUCN Red List since 1986. The global population was estimated at a maximum of 21,000 mature individuals in 2016, with the majority of those existing in India. It is the largest species among the wild cattle and the Bovidae. The domesticated form of the gaur is called gayal (Bos frontalis) or mithun. The Sanskrit word गौर gaura means 'white, yellowish, reddish'. The Sanskrit word gaur-mriga means a kind of water buffalo. The gaur is the largest extant bovid. It is a strong and massively built bovine with a high convex ridge on the forehead between the horns, which protrudes anteriorly, causing a deep hollow in the profile of the upper part of the head. There is a prominent ridge on the back. The ears are very large. In the old bulls, the hair becomes very thin on the back. The adult male is dark brown, approaching black in very old individuals. The upper part of the head, from above the eyes to the nape of the neck, is ashy grey, or occasionally dirty white. The muzzle is pale coloured, and the lower part of the legs are pure white or tan. The cows and young bulls are paler, and in some instances have a rufous tinge, which is most marked in groups inhabiting dry and open areas. The tail is shorter than in the typical oxen, reaching only to the hocks. They have a distinct ridge running from the shoulders to the middle of the back; the shoulders may be as much as 12 cm (4.7 in) higher than the rump. This ridge is caused by the great length of the spinous processes of the vertebrae of the fore-part of the trunk as compared with those of the loins. The hair is short, fine and glossy; the hooves are narrow and pointed.

Where gaur have not been disturbed, they are basically diurnal. In other areas, they have become largely nocturnal due to human impact on the forest. In central India, they are most active at night, and are rarely seen in the open after 8 o'clock in the morning. During the dry season, herds congregate and remain in small areas, dispersing into the hills with the arrival of the monsoon. While gaur depend on water for drinking, they do not seem to bathe or wallow. R_39052

This cake is for Maria, who did not know what a bundt cake was :) Now ya do! And special thanks to Mithun for some non-stick advice!

Nope, sorry, won't be sharing the recipe...at least not yet. This cake wasn't perfect...tasted more like a muffin...needed to be sweeter and more chocolate-y...but it still looked pretty :) Very soft and fluffy and moist, though...got it by searching for chocolate bundt cake on allrecipes.com.

Have a great day, everyone!

Gaur herds are led by an old adult female, the matriarch. Adult males may be solitary. During the peak of the breeding season, unattached males wander widely in search of receptive females. No serious fighting between males has been recorded, with size being the major factor in determining dominance. Males make a mating call of clear, resonant tones which may carry for more than 1.6 km (1 mi). Gaur have also been known to make a whistling snort as an alarm call, and a low, cow-like moo.

Hogenakkal Falls | Tamilnadu | India

Hogenakkal Falls - When its full of beauty.

Shoot @ 31 Aug 2007

Hogenakkal Falls is in Tamilnadu, India. It is fondly called the Indian Niagara. the place is very beautiful indeed.

River Cauvery in Southern India causes a series of beautiful falls at Hogenakkal (smoking rocks). The falls are usually gentle, beautiful and a major tourist attraction. The river Cauvery is a major river in southern India. It flows along the Karnataka-Tamilnadu State border at Hogenakkal.

The route Bangalore-Hosur-Krishnagiri-Dharmapuri-Hogennakkal (186 km) was very good. The Indian National Highway NH-7 that connects these places is very well maintained and is a pleasure to drive. I covered this distance on hired car ... and it was a wonderful experience !

Location : Hogenakkal, 50 kms from Dharmapuri, Tamilnadu State, India

If anything, he would definitely make Mithun Chakraborti proud :)

There's a place in Old Dhaka where they sell symmetric bolted joints I need for my thesis, and DISCO LIGHTS, crazy ones, যেইগুলা আউলা বাতাসের লাহান ঘুরে। It's a good place to leave your shadows behind, Old Dhaka...nobody really has the time to stop and listen to your dirges.

The capital of Arunachal Pradesh is Itanagar and we had just arrived as a Mithun was about to be ritually sacrificed. The bamboo structure is the altar. The people are animists and follow "Donyi Polo". The flag in the distance is to signify that it is a Donyi polo area.

I was waiting for the moon, but it came up outside of this frame, I missed a better angle by a couple of blocks...I was south on Theo Wirth Pkwy more than I should have been, but there aren't too many clear shots of the city in that neighborhood.

According to Wikipedia, the gaur (also called Indian bison) is a large bovine native to South Asia and Southeast Asia. The species has been listed as vulnerable on the IUCN Red List since 1986, as the population decline in parts of the species' range is likely to be well over 70% during the last three generations. Population trends, however, are stable in well-protected areas, and are rebuilding in a few areas which had previously been neglected. The gaur is the tallest species of wild cattle. The Malayan gaur is called seladang, and the Burmese gaur is called pyoung. The domesticated form of the gaur is called gayal or mithun.
