Minister Fitzgerald today hosted the 3rd Annual Missing Persons Day in Farmleigh.
Missing Persons Day provides an opportunity to raise public awareness of the numbers of people that go missing in Ireland each year. It is held annually on the first Wednesday in December. The Day commemorates those who have been reported missing and recognises the ongoing suffering for their families and friends. It also serves to raise public awareness of open or unsolved missing persons cases, and provides a platform to highlight the support services that are available to people who have lost a loved one.

While I was on lunch, my monkeys were kidnapped. I later received ransom note via email that said I should deliver two cocoa cookies (dark) to the meeting room table. After this I would be able to collect my monkeys from the fax machine..
Oshkosh '83. This is one of the most powerful sights you can see. The one trailing smoke has just left the formation.

My cat was "lost" for about 15 minutes this morning, which made me start thinking about what I would put on her "Missing Pet" poster. This is what I came up with.
Lincoln immediately said no when Alicia brought up the idea of going to the beach with me for 4 days. He had never been apart from Chiron for that long but eventually he agreed it was a good idea. The family was missing each other though so Lincoln talked on the phone with Chiron.

Turned up in our neighbourhood, living in a near by basement. Very hungry and very frightened, we are feeding him and trying to find out if he has been reported missing. If we cannot find an owner, we may become a 3 cat family...
Update: We befriended him (he was really affectionate once we had his trust) and then took him to the cat rescue to see if he was chipped and so that they could scan him.
It turned out that his name was Henri and that he was reported missing 5 weeks ago. We were really pleased that someone was going to get such good news, although a little sad to leave Henri at the cat rescue. How wrong could we be, his owner was a heartless bitch. When contacted by the cat rescue people, she informed them that she hated the cat and never wanted to see him again. It sounds as if she kicked him out of her apartment reported him missing and then basically let him starve - the basement he was living in for the past 4 weeks was 4 floors below her home. She could have taken him back to the cate rescue people, but preferred to starve him to death!
So it has been quite an emotional day. He is now being cared for and receiving medical attention, we were told he will probably need an infusion to rehydrate him and they want to check there has been no long term damage. By Wednesday we can, if we want to, go and get him and see if we can introduce him to Doro and Lucie. In the meantime the cat rescue will also see how he gets on with other cats. So we may become a 3 cat family after all. If not, then Henri has a chance at a new and loving home.
It is going to be difficult walking past the apartment of the lady who did this, I find it almost impossible to believe.
This was taken about 3 days after Cherry died. Lacy had never laid down in this spot before, but it was the beginning of a route that Cherry always chose to take through part of the yard, which wound through one of my perennial gardens since she didn't like walking on the gravel path. Lacy was quite sad and down at this point, in fact I had never seen this look on her face before, but she is doing much better now.
