Condiment Jar With Spoon and Attached Underplate

Finely painted porcelain made around the turn of the last century usually has the scrolled and curved Victorian designs and floral themes called art nouveau. My guess is that this dates before 1891 when Nippon was stamped on the product (Nippon means Japan). This one has no stamping.

This antique Nippon hand painted mustard pot has a glass spoon. My guess is that the original spoon that could have matched the pot is missing. This little glass one is great.

The function of the pot is to hold a mustard or condiment, or something used in small amounts such as a crushed chile sauce. It could also be used for salt or sugar. Perhaps, it was used for marmalade!

We are five miles from the rehab hospital where my dad is recovering from a punctured lung, having a quick lunch. Today, I packed a simple picnic of grilled ham and swiss sandwiches and MESQUITE chips. This gave us a pretty view anda few minutes of relaxation!

And today, from the menu, I ordered Katsudon (Japanese Pork Cutlet and Egg Rice Bowl).

I used to make this all the time for my family during the 1970s. I was so excited to see Katsudon on their menu. It was delicious. I am sure I will order it again sometime. This is a new Asian restaurant in Manchester. We go once a week, usually after we deliver Meals on Wheels to friends in their homes.

Actually, M is for Muerte, which is Spanish for "death" and that's the name of this handsome boy.

Meyer Lemon is a variety of lemon that is known for having a sweeter flavor, tasting mildly like a tangerine. It is often used as a seasoning for fish, providing a fresh aroma and a sweeter flavor than the standard lemon. Meyer lemons are more difficult to find.

I like to freeze the juice of the Meyer lemon in ice trays. This is very useful for Hollandaise Sauce which is good on poached eggs and on salmon entrees.

Spent a lot of time faffing tonight trying to get some water droplet shots for ODC water and failing miserably :-(

Was so frustrated I pulled out one of my roses and thought darn it an emergency macro shot will just have to do.

Turns out I quite like this, funny how events can turn out.

No texture today, just natural texture from the white card I used :-)

Day 13: M is for Mouse

1 extra for me to keep. :)

Inspired by Two Peas in a Bucket's Stamping A to Z Event. For the M is for... My Mind's Eye (Part 2), P is for... Penny Black, Q is for... Quick, R is for... Ranger, and S is for... Sizzix (Part 1) challenges.

Focal image is made from 140# cold-pressed watercolor paper by Canson Montval. I placed my Ranger non-stick craft sheet on my work surface. Then I applied Broken China and Pumice Stone Distress Inks directly to the craft sheet and misted them with water until it beaded. I dipped the watercolor paper face down into the ink, wiggled it, turned it over, and immediately dried it with my Heat It craft tool (heat gun).

Then I used water in a mini-mister to create water droplets on the surface. I dried the water immediately with my heat tool. This gives me the best water splotchy effect. Next, I mixed Pewter Perfect Pearls with water on my craft sheet. I used a paint brush to flick them onto the watercolor paper to make the silvery sparkles. I used a paper towel to wipe up the excess ink and Perfect Pearls from my craft sheet.

Next, I stamped Penny Black 4185F Happiness using Ranger Archival Ink in jet black. When the ink was dry, I used a Sizzix / Tim Holtz French Connection Texture Fades embossing folder with an angel wing to dry emboss the card. I wrapped the card with My Mind's Eye Together Twine from the Lime Twist collection and added a metal embellie from Making Memories. I used Ranger Glossy Accents to glue the metal piece to the card.

Then I adhered the watercolor piece to a chocolate brown artist trading card (ATC) base. For me, ATCs go quickly. Especially when I don't have to color anything. I keep watercolor ATC blanks and cardstock ATC bases pre-made and on hand. For this, I just applied a little ink, stamped one sentiment in black - nothing fancy - wrapped it with twine and adhered it to the base. It takes me far less time to do an ATC than a whole card.

Thanks for looking! :-)

Monumental: impressively large and enduring

(this statue of Palas Athena outside Vienna's Parliament is 4 meters high)

Monument: something that has historic significance

(The Parliament building is the seat of the Austrian Government)

Manipulation:the act of moving, changing or mechanically altering something.

(Well...Let's just say these are not the natural colors)

Busy day so nothing special here. When you're doing a project like the alphabet it's a sure bet that lame pictures like this will end up being posted.

A "Master Gardener" I am not, but we went to the Fort Bend Master Gardener Annual Perennial Sale this morning. Been out in the yard planing things and cleaning up all afternoon. Today we planted a couple of fig trees, a plum tree, a lemon tree, lime tree, pomegranate, two blueberry bushes and a few other things. Sunburned and zonked!

Maxx Empire Leather!

This is the Vixen Mask I got from Maxx Empire's "Naked Mask" sale. So, I got myself a "Lashed Naked Vixen"... I painted it half in metallic red, half in glossy black, then made it up to look like a "broken robot".

M is for Maxx Empire Leather for February's Alphabet Fun 2014 and this is my last photo in my fourth year of doing the 365days self-portrait project.

This is one of the cards in the alphabet series I'm participating in on Swap-Bot. It's the standard size of an ATC (2 1/2" x 3 1/2").

This card is made with felt and embroidery floss. The mittens and letter M use wool felt...the red is acrylic felt (normally I use wool felt for everything I make, but the acrylic just felt softer and more appropriate for this ATC).

The mittens, letter M, and card itself are sewn on using the blanket stitch. The stars/snowflakes...whatever you see them as...just 3 straight stitches.

This card was sent to kaypendragon.

We got a little bit of beautiful snow over night and then late this afternoon we got some snow that made it worth to venture out with the camera to try to capture some snowflakes. They melted quickly.

Please don't bother to pick, they're sooo similar I can't tell them apart. :)

I've been suffering from high blood pressure for many years. Not a severe one, mind you, but various physicians have advised me to follow a treatment. Three months of this medication for now and then we'll see. Hope it'll work...

Musician!

Once a musician always a musician!

I don't remember the moment I feel in love with music...but I did and the love affair is still going on to this day. I know my father introduced me to music. He did it in the way music enthusiast do. There's so much pride and pageantry to it. Almost like you're about to be allowed into an exclusive club. He sat me down, put on a pair of oversized earphones on my head and proceeded to tell me the whos and whats. And then the curtain started to part.

Behind the curtain there's lots of records/CDs, lots of concert ticket stubs and memories....and snobitude. I know that's not a word...and yet you know what I"m talking about! :o)

An ex once told me that I was a music snob in a middle of a conversation. I remembered looking at him and smiling and saying, "yeah...and?" hahaha...

But I think I'm allowed to have so much passion for music. I mean...I am a musician. I may not practice my clarinets every day...or every year for that matter....but tonight after I took this picture...I played for about an hour. Just like riding a bike. If that bike was the same bike you rode for 7 years straight. :o)

I know they may appear to look like three of exactly the same thing..but they are all three very different and for three different uses. :o)
