I caught him EATING Scarlet's green spider toy! He was ripping apart its
eye (typical Ziggy to destuff a toy)! You can see the spider fluff on his
chin. "Who me?"

63 children had fun at the two animal events run by Kim of Really Wild Learning. They handled Elsa the milk snake, Gino the bearded dragon, Lily the royal python, a leopard gecko and stick insects. They watched Pepper the crested gecko jump from Kim’s head and hands and watched Nipper the scorpion glow when Kim shined a torch on him. The event was part of the 6-book 'Mischief Makers' Summer Reading Challenge event programme at Crediton Library.
Photographed at Three Lakes WMA on 20 March. This species occurs in the SE USA from Delaware to Texas, and presumably down into Mexico. The scientific name is fabulous Schistocerca damnifica. If that ain't a damnifica name. Goes with Mischievous, but I can't find out much else about this critter's lifestyle. Perhaps more to come later.
