Mother Red Fox (Vulpes vulpes) takes her eyes off of her mischievous kit. Usually, this proved to be a mistake, when the feisty little fox pounced on her. Here, however, mom's brief human distraction didn't give him enough time. A thorough grooming followed this image.

This little Bear is appropriately called "Mischief". he could not wait to try out the little Laundry basket. He is wearing a green Toronto Maple Leaf jersey but I won't hold that against him.

A Stellar's Jay (Cyanocitta stelleri). Like most Corvids these birds are very intelligent and curious. Nothing goes unnoticed in the yard. Something new will be checked out within minutes! I was about 2 meters from this one!

I took this photo at sunrise yesterday (on 30th December) and I've dedicated it to my friend, Francesca, who lost her baby son at birth a few years ago. Yesterday would have been his birthday, and when Francesca saw this image, she was convinced these vivid, beautiful colours were of his making. "Making mischief in the sky" she said.

As I grew weary of photographing landscapes and snow these bassets appeared to bring humor and challenge into my SL. Bear with me as I explore SL with them.

I think a baby bird getting into mischief is an indicator of a happy bird. In my garden I am growing tomatoes which I have covered with netting to keep the parrots from eating all the fruit before it is ripe. In this shot, one of my baby Magpies is playing on the netting. It swung, rolled and played on the netting while I took photos like a proud father. No tomatoes were harmed in the taking of this photo.

Part III (End)

The Saci by the Enchanted Cabin

Deep in the heart of the forest,

where silence begins to creep,

comes the Saci, fast and tricky,

with secrets he loves to keep.

Red cap high on his forehead,

red shorts shining through the trees,

he climbs the steps of a cabin,

surrounded by ghostly breeze.

He’s got just one leg, but races

like the wind, both swift and sly,

tying knots in horses’ manes,

and making corn vanish dry.

When the whirlwind starts to spin,

you best know he's close around—

causing mischief, stirring trouble,

then vanishing without sound.

Those who glimpse him in the jungle

feel a laugh, then sudden fear...

It’s the Saci clever legend,

from the lands we hold so dear.

Parte 3 (Final)

O Saci na Cabana Encantada

No fundo da mata fechada,

num canto quase escondido,

surge o Saci, pé de vento,

com um passo bem sabido.

Gorro vermelho na testa,

bermuda de cor chamando,

sobe a escada da cabana,

com a fumaça o cercando.

Tem uma perna só, mas corre,

feito raio a despistar,

faz nó em crina de égua

e vive só pra implicar.

Quando gira o redemoinho,

é sinal: lá vem danado!

Mexe em tudo, assusta gente,

mas nunca faz mal de fato.

Quem o vê por entre as árvores

sente o riso, a confusão...

É o Saci mito esperto

do folclore do sertão.

Thank you very much for all the support! 😊

Mr Mischief was the name I gave to a baby Kookaburra in the family of Kookaburras living close to my home. Every Kookaburra has a personality and behaviour traits that distinguish them for all the others.

From the first day I encountered this bird, he was into everything, he investigated everything and he would not conform to the group. He was always in trouble. On the first day he was left alone with me, he attacked my pot plants. So it was no surprise a few days later when he started pulling leaves off a succulent and battering them.

Kookaburras batter their pray to death, first to subdue it, secondly to break their bones to make them easier to swallow. In this video we see Mr Mischief practicing in my garden, first on the succulent, and then with the largest rock he could find.

Press L to view large.

Look who’s allowed to roam freely about the house again! Exploring every nook & cranny, looking for mischief 😌. He had his first dose of chemotherapy this morning. He’ll have 1 dose/ month for 5 months. Even with the chemo, the Oncologist says she expects that he’ll live about 9 months, with a good quality of life if all goes well.

I really liked this little lad with dirt all over his face, hair and shirt. The eyes and grin were a bonus.

A constant presence on the shoreline in search of mischief.
