Her real name is Miracle because it was a miracle she was found, rescued, fostered, and then later adopted by my DD in the NL….

Extra! Extra! Read all about it, the vintage watch in a miracle cure...
I had two possible subjects for "Vintage", a brass thread counting glass that my mom (magrit k.) got during her dressmaker apprenticeship, and an automatic wristwatch that had belonged to my father. The plan was to combine these two items. I placed the thread counter's magnifying glass over the date, and while I was checking out different positions of thread counter, watch, and camera, all of a sudden the seconds hand appeared on my camera's display. Now you might think that this is nothing special, the seconds hand of a watch does move, doesn't it? Well, this one didn't. For the past 15 or so years, it didn't move an inch. I've been wearing this watch nonstop for many years after my father died, and I had it repaired several times, but at one point it stopped working, and the watchmaker told me that the movement was finally beyond repair. And now the seconds hand started moving out of nowhere. You can tell that I was surprised. Even shocked a little when the watch started working again all of a sudden. Immediately, The Who's song "Miracle Cure" from Tommy popped up in my head, hence the title ;) So what I will do next is carry the watch to a watchmaker and have it cleaned and checked. I still can't believe it ;)
Technically, this is one single shot. I had focused on the dial, through the thread counter's magnifying glass, which explains the distortion of the dial. The main focus is, of course, on the magnificent seconds hand ;) The frame around the dial is the brass thread counter; the manufacturer was "Hostmann-Steinberg" which is the blurred lettering that you can see. Processed in DXO PL6, Lightroom, and a variety of Nik Collection filters.
Happy Macro Monday, Everyone!
Anyone who has hiked to Devil's Bridge in Sedona, Arizona knows that this image is something of a feat. The Bridge is one of the most popular hikes in Sedona and typically very crowded (as it was this day).
The 5' wide, 45' long and 54' high sandstone arch (created by wind and weather erosion vice flowing water, which creates natural bridges) is the tallest in the Sedona region. The trail is not particularly strenuous, but it does start at 4400' and climb to 4900'. Parking near the trailhead is often jammed, and the road is really suitable only for 4WD vehicles. We hiked the Mescal and Chuckwagon Trails to the trailhead and enjoyed a spectacular spring day.
My DD purposefully leaves the front door open with the storm door latched so Miracle can sleep in a sunny spot. Love how her legs and paws are subtly reflected in the door.
Happy Caturday : sleep
Observing our World and the beauty that lies within is something that we photographers do often. Things or objects that we see readily we can easily take for granted. Until we train ourselves to appreciate and enjoy the simplest of things we encounter, then we’re apt to overlook and consequently miss out on one real joys of life. Being aware and grateful for even the smallest of our visual treasures gives us an appreciation for, and broadens our desire to seek out and savor more of “Nature’s Miracles.” These colorful miracles are virtually everywhere throughout our day even when we’re not getting around now and we once were. Thanks for viewing my work. In closing

She’s such a love. She’s been here for a little over 3 and a half years and she’s just warming up to me!! To be fair, for the first 2 and a half years she had to share the space with a very territorial and possessive LBC…..

Don't expect miracles to arrive with fireworks and fanfares. They appear quietly, modestly, on Angels' wings.
The pretty bright yellow flowers in the foreground (Doronicum grandiflorum) are particularly interesting plants. Not only are you supposed to lose any scare of heights after eating some of their roots, but they can even make you bulletproof - if you dig out the roots on a Friday during the new moon and before sunrise. (Granted, Wikipedia dutifully points out the questionable source situation especially in regard to the second aspect. Don't say I didn't warn you.)
Jokes aside, the plants contain some sort of natural sweetener, and all herbivores, but particularly chamois, like to eat them. So people thought that eating these plants is what makes the chamois unafraid of heights and sure-footed even in the most daunting terrain.
Christmas Eve, a time to believe.
Wishing all my creative, nature-loving Flickr friends a warm and loving Christmas Eve. May you be surrounded by everything you hold dear.
Summer is Great for foody esp who love fruits- mangoes, jack fruit, black berries ... but the Charm of Monsoon is just enchanting!

Just because it's a bug... It's not so much of a miracle. BUT the title is so because I was taking my 365 today and these little tiny gnat-things were all over the place. So I set the focus to around a macro setting and hoped one would zoom right in front of the lens. ... And sometimes wishes come true :)
it looks comically like an airplane.
I cropped and tweaked brightness/contrast/saturation a little bit... The SOOC is in the comments.
