Juvenile pied wagtail sitting happily and got chased away by a nasty little meadow pippit

10.8.2011 Ancient Highway

Saw several migrant and one brown hawker this morning - one of the best mornings for dragonflies this year.

No real change on the bird front both in the scrub and on the scrapes (wood sands and LRPs are still around) we did however see ~ 30 mippits suggestive of some sort of movement

A posing meadow pippit, sat posed and off he went.

I know they are not rare but these are the best I've managed to date of a mippit on the wing.

9.12.2009 Newdowns Farm

Today I parked at Newdowns then walked to the beach then north towards the point. Not much on the beach - skylarks, mippits, corn and reed buntings plus 6 stonechats but at Newdowns I found 3 siskin in the alders and a golden eye on the farm reservoir. Shame it was so dark.

A brief visit to Taddington, but nothing within camera range really, the closes of these is a 1/9 centre crop.
