Snowdance/Splash! Quilt pattern available on Etsy: Splash!
Quilt made for my DQS8 recipient.... Designed in EQ and appliqued after sandwiching, then McTavished. 19.5in square. February 2010. Blogged: sampaguitaquilts.blogspot.com/2010/03/snow-dance.html
I made this mini quilt for the 2009 Spring Mini Quilt Swap...
It measures approx. 17" square, using several lines of Heather Ross fabric, and backed in natural linen. It's bound in Amy Butler's Seeds. I quilted it using a random converging line pattern.
Named after the kittens in the children's book, "The Color Kittens". I entered this in the South Australian Quilt Guild's 2009 Festival of Quilts. It uses a spare lyrebird tail mistakenly cut from the wrong fabric for another quilt, plus lots more, all from fairy frosts, and features Emming (McTavishing) quilting. June 2009.
A digitally composited image of three mini quilts I made for chickenfoot for the Triptych theme. Hand appliqued and free motion quilted.

So I decided this will be the one that wings its way to my partner. Most likely at the end of the week.
but I can only show you the front right now otherwise, my partner might figure out who they are! hehehe
I have finished painting some of my sewing room so I took a quick picture of it in there. Once it is all done and complete I get a picture with the full effect!
My quilt I received from DQS10
Thank you soooo much Brenis (Hey Diddle Diddle Woolies) I really really love it. The fabric and colors are all soooo me.

Schnitzel and Boo Miniquilt Swap - Round 4

What do you think, partner?
It's not quite regulation size, but the rectangular shape works, I think. It's about 11" by 28" woops . . .hoping my partner has a space on her wall for this little gem.
I machine stitched the hex grouping on to the white kona cotton ( I ditched the cream linen I had originally cut - not the right shade AND really stretchy and hard to work with). For binding I'm thinking a grey two tone geometric print. to frame the design.
For the quilting, I zipped around the entire hex design, about a 1/2" from the edge, also in the ditch around the middle hexes in each flower, and then I did some random hexes around in the white space in two sizes just to add a bit of somethin' somethin'.
This is the mini I made for my partner for Doll Quilt Swap #8. I hope it's not too obvious who it's for! I also hope my partner likes it.
I fell in love with this while I was making it so I found it very hard to send off!
(This is based off a pattern from Don't Look Now - I would recommend her patterns for anyone looking to try raw-edge applique or free motion quilting!)
( You can click "all sizes" to see it bigger if you'd like more detail! )

Mini-quilt made for the ALQS2 and sent to... Inspired by an outback sunset and bushfire-blackened gumleaves. Includes FM embroidery and some beading. October 2008.
It didn't occur to me to hand stitch in the border as well, until the 30th! I LOVED working out that little pattern and stitching it, I'll be doing that again. I changed my mind about the binding too, I wanted all the pink to be concentrated in the middle of the quilt. *sigh* bye bye little quilt, safe journey to.........
The whole story and a special something for Flickr Quilters! The Foxes in Love mini quilt. Oh man I think this is my most favourite mini I've made yet.
The colors are not as BRIGHT as in this photo. I just could not get them to photograph right. I was leaning towards white sashing for a long time...but in the end decided to go with what my partner seemed to like more - grey.
I put in a movie today during naptime and quilted my little heart out. I really hope this chunky sort of hand quilting is okay by you, partner. ??
all pieced and ready for quilting... oh this is by far the most TREASURED item i have ever made. i **ADORE** how it turned out... quirks and all!
This little quilt will be winging it's way to it's new home in a few weeks... Don't want to spoil the fun for it's new Mama... (Or papa!) All the hand quilting is completed. And most of the goobers are off the prairie points! It just needs a label and a little blocking to make it behave...
I really loved making this for my partner jgmehlin, it was fun to put all the different fabrics together. I might actually be addicted to piecing small squares.
Pun intended...because, well, it's a typewriter. ;)
