9 października 2013 r. odbyła się w Świdwinie trzecia edycja Gry Miejskiej im. Rudolfa Virchowa, imprezy dla młodzieży, łączącej w sobie elementy questingu i marszobiegu na orientację. Głównym celem zabawy było głębsze poznanie miasta - jego przeszłości i teraźniejszości, architektury, przyrody, ciekawych miejsc i postaci.
Impreza rozpoczęła się o godz. 15.30 na skwerze obok Starostwa Powiatowego przy nowoodsłoniętej tablicy pamiątkowej ku czci Rudolfa Virchowa, gdzie zebrało się ponad 60 osób, w tym 52 uczniów z 3 świdwińskich placówek oświatowych: SP-1, SP-2 oraz Gimnazjum nr 1, a także opiekunowie Szkolnych Kół Krajoznawczo-Turystycznych i zaproszeni goście.
Grę poprzedził uroczysty moment, a mianowicie przypomnienie postaci słynnego świdwinianina i zapalenie znicza pod jego pomnikiem przez delegację uczniów. Poprzednie edycje gry odbywały się przy starym pomniku przy ul. Drawskiej. Jednak po kradzieży płyty pamiątkowej zmieniono lokalizację obelisku. Wspólnym staraniem środowisk społecznych i lokalnych władz dnia 25 września br. odsłonięto nową tablicę – w obecności najwyższych urzędników, dyrektorów instytucji publicznych i młodzieży, a także przedstawicieli mniejszości niemieckiej powiatu świdwińskiego.
Część oficjalną wzbogaciło też przyznanie Medalionu Rudolfa Virchowa panu Zbigniewowi Czajkowskiemu, społecznikowi, badaczowi dziejów Ziemi Świdwińskiej, autorowi wielu publikacji. Pod decyzją podpisali się uczestniczący w spotkaniu goście: Bogdan Wachowiak – kierownik Wydziału Oświaty, Zdrowia, Kultury i Sportu Urzędu Miasta Świdwin, Barbara Pełka - dyrektor Publicznej Szkoły Podstawowej nr 1, Elżbieta Grabińska - prezes Zarządu Oddziału PTTK w Świdwinie oraz Zofia Lewkowicz reprezentująca grono miłośników Rudolfa Virchowa. Laudację autorstwa Wiesława Wieczorka, nauczyciela PSP nr 2 odczytała Monika Babiak, nauczycielka PSP nr 1. Do gratulacji dołączyła nauczycielka Dwójki - Beata Wachowiak, pastor Kościoła Zielonoświątkowego - Adam Ciućka oraz redaktor „Kuriera Szczecińskiego” - Czesław Burdun. Specjalne gratulacje pisemnie przekazał laureatowi wielki miłośnik profesora Virchowa – Irek Litzbarski, który zainicjował przyznawanie Medalionu. Warto przypomnieć, że pierwszą w ten sposób uhonorowaną osobą był przed 4 laty lekarz Jacek Rożański.
Po części oficjalnej przyszedł czas na rozpoczęcie gry miejskiej. Opiekunowie podzielili młodzież na 11 grup (po 4-6 uczestników każda). Prowadzący imprezę M. Babiak i W. Wieczorek objaśnili istotę rywalizacji, omówili zasady bezpieczeństwa oraz reguły „czystej gry”, po czym rozdali kapitanom grup mapy i karty startowe z zestawem 27 zadań oraz przybory do pisania. Wszyscy uczestnicy otrzymali również okolicznościowe plakietki.
Grupy wyruszały na trasę w 3-minutowych odstępach czasowych. Podczas marszu należało sprawnie posługiwać się mapą, wykazać się znajomością miasta, wiedzą z przyrody, a także umiejętnością zdobywania informacji z różnych dostępnych źródeł, takich jak tablice informacyjne, pomoc uzyskana od przechodniów, a nawet „telefon do przyjaciela” czy tzw. „wujek Google”... Kluczowym warunkiem była dobra współpraca w grupie.
Meta, jak i końcowy etap rajdu, znajdowały się w Parku Miejskim za dawną willą Altenburga. Tam na uczestników czekała gorąca herbata, słodki poczęstunek i zabawy prowadzone przez p. prezes świdwińskiego oddziału PTTK, Elżbietę Grabińską.
Na koniec, tj. około godziny 18.45 podsumowano imprezę. Prowadzący Wiesław Wieczorek przedstawił wyniki końcowe i wręczył dyplomy oraz puchary najlepszym zespołom.
Najlepsza okazała się chłopięca grupa łączona „Drużyna Actimela” w składzie: Konrad Górski, Michał Furtak (ze Szkoły Podstawowej nr 1) i Michał Włodarczyk, Konrad Żubert (z SKKT przy Szkole Podstawowej nr 2). Tyle samo, bo 36 punktów uzyskała drużyna dziewczęca „Muski” z PSP 1 (Paulina Janikowska, Paulina Skalska, Zuzanna Staruk, Julia Gbur, Milena Barna).
Kolejne miejsca zajęli:
II „Magiczne fasolki” – PSP nr 1 (35 pkt.)
II „Smerfy” – PSP nr 2 (35 pkt.)
