Work to complete excavation of the Chinatown station cavern is in its final stretch, with workers now removing all material from the invert prior to installing a waterproofing membrane.
Steel cylinders span the width of the interior of the station headhouse. These supports are called walers and help equalize soil pressure prior to the construction of interior structural elements.

A mini-excavator that was used on a project I worked on in Madisonville, TN. Normally, the bigger the equipment...the cooler it is 'cause it's so huge. But, this is an interesting little piece of equipment that caught my eye. I think it looks really cool in HDR!! Image was created from three photos taken at -2, 0, +2 EV.
This was one of my FIRST attempts at HDR...I still like it but would definitely do it a little different if done today (3/2015).
