Some builders are bred for greatness, and others are just bread to be toasted. It's a Wonder some have even made it this far...
I stopped to admire some fungi and got out my Big Foot Lego minfig and place it near the Turkey Fungi.
I was getting ready to 'take' the shot when I got chattered at by a chipmunk.
It ran back to the other side of the log and I waited. And waited.
Apparently I was in its path of where it wished to go.
Eventually, it ran right past me on the log.
Converted civilian vehicle. Pump up da bass!
Final version. I could probably add some details, but I'm over this thing.
I'lll re-add some inspirations/helpers, just to annoy them. :>
And I'm sorry I suck at life photography. :P
Forgot to mention. Opening doors, seats two figures. Finally. Cargo storage in the back.
RECIPE:
1) Take the biggest Watt & Pritney gas turbine engine that you can find; sprinkle a trio of smaller engines to the vertices of the triangle; add four wheels and a giant spoiler.
2) Hollow out a small niche for a driver/pilot/test dummy on top of the vehicle (preferably on the side that the civilised world drives on).
3) Steering? It's a dragster! It just goes very fast in straight lines. You don't need to parallel park or squeeze it between a pair of SUVs in Kwik Save's carpark!
4) If Matt Rowntree should even so much as be suspected of thinking of mentioning the lack of mud flaps, beat him with fish.

Brick Bending seems to be my experimental theme this summer.
to follow her. She got a severe thunderstorm warning on her smart phone and decided to take all of her critters to a safe place.
Rugged Offroad Adventure Mobile
Everyone wanted a go when the rep brought the ROAM demonstrator to the base.
The leg hinge rotation points match those of the minfigs, allowing "natural" walking poses to be achieved.
Officer Joe "Coffee" and Officer "Cupcake" Brown, watch water (and a fish?) flow down the street in front of the Emporium. They set up a barricade to keep the other minfigs from getting too close to the rushing water.
Texas has been deluged with rain in the last few days. Our area is fine but I feel bad for the people in Houston.
**edit** I tried to add this information the day I uploaded the photo but Flickr was being flaky:
Officer Brown is an LAPD minifigure from Brick Police. You can find them on Facebook: www.facebook.com/BrickPolice and Flickr: www.flickr.com/photos/lego_police/
My entry for round 2 of the Minfig Face Off. The theme for this round is: Music to my Ears (Singers and Songwriters), with stipulation: Brickbuilt bodies. Check out the creative entry of my opponent rossfisher2!
What an adventure this was! I have so little music knowledge that I was afraid I'd never come up with something for this round. But the extra brick build bodies challenge made me think of a moonwalking Michael Jackson and that really stuck. I think this brick body is quite large for its head, but I liked it so much I dind't want to change the scale.

Rover School is in session...
Today inHistory of Roving class we were studying the topic of Military rover applications. To illustrate the topic, our professor invited a pair of Robot Warriors from the Intergalactic Defense Council to demonstrate one of their rovers. They brought along the latest terrestrial defense rover, a so-called TD-6L. Armed with twin Protonic Fusion Laser cannons and a capable 6 wheel drive chassis, it was really quite an imposing machine. I feel safe knowing that these guys are on the job.

I had the pleasure of doing the cover shot for Hispabrick Magazine (issue22).
So I decided to try something different from my usual shots, and I've been wanting to do a shot featuring all my minifigs for a while now.
The only issue of doing something like this is the aftermath. Sorting out the minifigures(by themes, Collectors series etc) it took me ages and something I was putting off for weeks, especially as quite few of them had their hair/hat fall off.
However since this shot was taken I've probably got another 60+ minfigs (and after tidying up found a boat load of unopened polybags with figures).
So I finally got round to finishing the successor to my Venamis Kylo Ren and well.. you can see its just as confusing.
Technically, there is a full minfig under there; Head/hair, Arm, staff, torso, legs and the rest of the support stand. Unfortunately you can only see 4 of those elements.
So this borders 'custom figure', but more 'about to fall out of that category'.
Lets just call this a display piece XD (seeing shes more painting than machine now... I mean lego..)
^bad joke
Energy blade and the whole of the damn body (XD) are made of plastic sheet. Funnily enough this was much easier to do seeing as it was on a larger scale.
I attempted to do my best recreation of Eli's work in (partial), lego form. Yes I could have 'lego-fied' the legs, my original design was that, but just looked crap.
Anyway, I'm interested to know your thoughts on this 'display piece', its unlikely I will do this again (although those who follow on instagram, know ive been eyeing up a giant Venom 'display piece')
Vader will be up soon, and will be starting Leo's Nomad Kenobi.
Jees that was long.. ok, ima go now. Bye.
p.s I sense this is gonna be a controversial one..
Well, it seems each Summer Joust the duration of build time for my first build gets longer: I started this quite a while ago, but at least it's here now. I hope you like it! I was inspired by the Aztec Game where they try to hit the ball through the stone hoops. I tried to make the ring smaller, but couldn't get that done. Also I tried to make the posing more dramatic, but couldn't do that without cheating with glue or something, which I had rather not ;) . I'm happy with it though, been a while since I had done a Meso-American MOC: or any MOC at all, for that matter!
Was anyone else reminded of that time Han shot at Vader in Empire Strikes Back? I have a theory that they wanted Vader to stop the laser bolt in midair but the special effects technology to do so just wasn't there. They opted for Vader's robot hand to take the blasts instead and shelved the idea until the special effects technology caught up.
I was talking about this shot with Takamichi Irie. Taka pointed out that Kylo Ren did not slip into a highly focused, meditative state while holding the laser bolt like how Yoda would when he was lifting an X-Wing out of the swamp. Kylo Ren was walking and talking the entire time he was holding that bolt. Apparently he's a multitasker. Taka didn't like it. I agree with Taka, but I still liked it. It was something I've never seen before and above all else, it was a simple idea that worked.
This shot was the hardest to create so far, and at the same time, my favorite Force Awakens shot. The set up and photoshoot were simple. Adding all the effects and adjusting the lighting was tough. For example, the tiny laser bolt reflections in the Stormtroopers' armor are totally artificial, which was not easy to create. I also don't have the official Poe minifig yet, so I substituted it with a Kili head, some black hair, Finn's torso, and some regular pants.
If you're interested, you can see my setup here. And a before/after comparison can be found here.
Can anyone spot the character cameo in this photo?

I've been busy designing a bunch of new figures. Really happy with how the denison smock camo came out on the SAS. What do you guys think? Any suggestions for future figure runs?
Also, check out that modified pot helmet in the back. Scott "THE HAMMER" chopped off the rim and netted it for me. How cool is that?
The Battle of Issus occurred in southern Anatolia, in November 333 BC. It was fought between the Hellenic League led by Alexander the Great and Achaemenid Persia, led by Darius III.
It was the second great battle of Alexander's conquest of Asia following the battle of the Granicus.
The invading Greek troops defeated Persia and continued their march through the Middle East, into Egypt, then Persia itself and to Afghanistan and India beyond.
The battle has been reproduced and romanticised in various pieces of art in the last 2300 years.
My favourite of those is the "Alexander Mosaic" which I have tried to recreate in Lego. It is not the same or as good, but I really wanted to try it.
Read more about the mosaic and the battle here:

I grew up with, and always loved stories about Alexander the Great.
Those stories in turn made me love history, geography and travel.
In 2012, I went to an exhibition on Alexander the Great and at the end of it, they had a small area depicting Alexanders influence on todays pop-culture. One of the things in the cabinet was a Lego Series 2 Spartan. I had not thought of Lego in a long time but that little minfig dragged me out of my dark ages.
Since then, I wanted to do a tribute to Alexander, to Lego and to that moment. And now, a few years (and a lot of dollars) later, I finally got around to it!
It is a little different to the original mosaic, but I wanted to put my own little spin on it and instead of showing horse rear-ends, I included a clash of the Greek and Persian lines in the middle, with Alexander charging on the left, and Darius in his chariot on the right.
I hope you enjoy it :)
Absolutely loved The Boys, and I thought it was a very refreshing take on the superhero genre. I decided to create one of the main characters in LEGO. This will probably be my only minifig from The Boys because of college but I hope you all enjoy!
Head is a modified Thorin Oakenshield head, hair is painted black, shirt is modified, coat is capemadness. Pretty simple minifigure overall.
I think we need a bigger boat!
I think we need some food!
I think we need to eat someone!
I think we need more rum!
I think we need a real captain…
--------------------------
Still assembling minfigs as I sort the monster set into drawers... The boat is getting a bit full I think.
There are two minifigs in the background that did not come with the Barracuda Bay set (Pretty Boy and Big Sword), and I am hoping to bricklink at least one more pirate in the future (Canon Ball?), but it already looks like my pirate ship will not be short handed.
Kithaba has been a way to meet the Sand People. They have agreed to a meeting in the middle of the desert, in the middle of the night. They have some unfinished business with each other.
Previously in this series: Traces to Nowhere and Fire Walk with Me.
I've somehow been taken of this situation. It feels like the Sand People were nailed to look at the fire, which Kithaba carries. They are dangerous, but yet, still in this situation a very open minded. A great moment, I would say.
EDIT: This is all in-camera. I haven't used Photoshop tricks in this photo. It's a route that feels unnatural to me.
What about Homer? Where is he running... to get a donuts, perhaps? Mmmmmm, donuts!
Next one in this series is Apu.
This is almost finished now, so thought I’d get a few pics before putting the opposite head side on.
A complete rebuild of the UCS AT-ST to my liking. Its been a bit of a pain with the weight of the head, but its there……yes I will finish the animated minfig scale one at some point 😉
Silence filled the air of the sala conferenze.
“Arama di Athena De Cioto,” I said quietly, “venire.”
A gasp ran through the room, and I even felt a few hands stiffen around their swords.
“This is your assissina?” Alesio said sharply. “What’s next, Ilazio Moccenigo?”
I smiled at the cunning man with the patch. “Ascoltare.”

Here's the second vignette in a series of builds I made for a collaboration with Talus Moonbreaker! I made three vignettes which will be posted over the course of this week, and you can follow the full story over on GoH! Hope you like it!

Amy's fun idea.
We were sitting around last night assembling the minfigs from Castle set 7084 and I promisted to photograph it. Worked out pretty well.
Now we have the green, red and black dragon. I wonder if Lego will release another colour?
nearly 700 figures, 4 Standard TIEs, 2 Special Forces TIEs, Minifig Scale AT-M6, Vonreg TIE, TIE Silencer, Custom Minfig Scale First Order Transporter.
Do you remember ? In 1974 the Ingalls family arrived on TV in the famous show : The Little House on the Prairie !
I wanted to build the house of the family, at Plum Creek, Minnesota, as we can see it in the show.
I created new torso decorations for the minfigs, except Charles, and a new hair piece for Caroline (quite bad).
There are many others pictures on my Flickr : www.flickr.com/photos/88565614@N02/
This creation is also a Lego Ideas project ! Please support here : ideas.lego.com/projects/108635
Hope you like it !
Photo editoring by TheBrickAvenger, thanks to him !
I bought this set to use in the spring, which is when I set up the beach area for the minfigs but we've had record high temperatures (86 F) so the beach bar is already open for business.
We're supposed to get a "cold" front tomorrow which will bring our temperatures down some but still not actually cold. This has been a crazy, warm, dry winter.
Now that "May the Fourth" is over, we have "Revenge of the Fifth" and my Emperor minfig is enjoying this day :-)
Entry to the 2018 Summer Joust .
Inspired by Marion's Haberdashery and Cesar's wizard laboratory I wanted to create a vignette in a non-minfig scale. Hope you like it.

Another way of getting out of my comfort zone.
I've been reading Tolkien's work on and off since the start of the current year. I must say I'm having a blast, although I need pauses between books to really appreciate them.
Anyway, I always wanted to build the Tower of Isengard, but I have neither the space nor the parts ( and certainly not the skills) to make one in minfig scale. Plus it has been done marvelously before.
Hence I chose to take liberties from the movie rendition as I realised this was more or less how I pictured it during my reading. So yes the 'crown' part is oversized, but I like it this way.
All in all I had tremendous fun putting this together! :)
I seriously need to be doing these sort of shots more often. Oh well, better late than never I guess.
Light armoured multi-wheel sub-surface data packet collector.
Tiny amounts of data from Futuron, Space Police and M-Tron subspace transmissions can sometimes adhere to subatomic muons and duons. On distant moons, Sprius SPYR-KOLEKTA rovers scan the regolith, hoping to collect and aggregate these data fragments into usable intell...
Uh, I can't find my old Spyrius minfig. They are a shifty faction I guess...
A long overdue update to my V-19 Torrent.
Instructions for this model are available from brickvault.
I'm really pleased with how smooth and sturdy this turned out. A big criticism of the previous version was the fragility of the wings. It took a bit of brain power but figuring out that wing SNOT mosaic and making a wing that remains intact while folding into landing position was ultimately very satisfying. And I'm really pleased with that technique to create the stripes on the diagonal edge of the wing.
In the aftermath of the battle, TK-9015 had lost his brothers in arms. TK-72 ("Cody"), TK-2001 ("Cole"), TK-391, and TK-1215, all killed in mere minutes. He wandered the battlefield, still trying to take it all in. The only ones he knew, now never to be spoken, laughed, or practiced with again.
A nice little return to the dark and serious shots. Hope you enjoy.
So I may or may not take a break over the next several days; we'll see. But if you don't see an upload, well, don't be surprised :p
