The mighty Entrevaus (Entrevaux in French), in Provence, is a beautifully fortified town. Indeed, located at a strategic point in the valley of the Var river, right where it narrows between two cliffs. It has medieval origins, and its walls were modernized by Vauban in the XVII Century. Above the town is the citadel, which only can be reached by a sloping path protected by up to 17 gates!

Looks kind of a Provençal Minas Tirith!

Here's my entry for the "Interior Architect" category of Brickscalibur, as well as my entry for the "Movie Scene" category of CCC XIX. My first Lord of the Rings MOC ever, based on a scene from "The Return of the King". I've never been much of a "figbarf" guy, but I'm particularly happy with how the Denethor minifigure turned out.

The Trencavel family was the dominant dinasty in Carcassone through most of the Middle Ages, till they were bruttaly crushed by the french, specially the bloody crusaders of Simón de Montfort.

The medieval walls of Carcassonne, seen from the southern viewpoint by the motorway.

The fortified Occitan medieval city and castle of Carcassonne, now in southern France, it's one of the most spectacular locations in all Europe. In a hill above the Aude river, it is protected by two walls and inside it lays the castle. Part of it's charm was "created" in the reconstruction of the XIX Century, but anyway most of the fortifications are real, dating from late-roman and medieval times. It's part of UNESCO World Heritage, and several movies have been filmed there, like Les Visiteurs or Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves.

My entry for the 5th annual Summer Joust. Category: Tri-Colour

The rules of the competition dictated that I use a maximum of 3 colours to build a medieval MOC of my choice. The limitation on colour left me with little room for my customary style of employing vibrant colours to make my creations stand out, forcing me out of my comfort zone – which meant I had to get creative.

I decided to capitalize on the confined colour palette by adopting a simplistic, elegant style to match it. I’ve used white curved slopes to represent the city walls, grey regular slopes for the mountains, and a circular sand green base built on its side for the fields of Pelennor – all of which contribute to that simple, elegant appearance. I’m not entirely satisfied with how the half-circle base turned out (my supply of sand green is minimal, unfortunately), but overall I’m quite happy with the finished model.

"The Great Gate in the City wall was at the east point of the circuit, but the next faced half south, and the third half north, and so to and fro upwards."

▪The Great Gate of Minas Tirith▪

You are looking at the tenth part of The Third Age-Journey Through Middle Earth Collaboration! I built the main gate of Minas Tirith to minifigure scale and to a level of detail not seen before in other builds of this online. I really enjoyed building this over the course of a couple weeks, and especially making all the minifigures for it! This MOC will be refined and added on to during Christmas break this year, so this is not a completely finished product!

The Fisherman's Bastion, Buda, Budapest, Hungary

A trio of microscale Middle Earth scenes I've been fiddling with on-and-off for nearly 5 years! Finally got them to a stage where I'm happy. Hope you like them.

After finishing the black fortress Barad-dûr I just had to build the White City as well. This LEGO version of Minas Tirith is inspired on the movie version, but it is a bit more colourful and cheerful. I like to think this is Minas Tirith in the time when Aragorn ruled as King Elessar.

A description in the book:

"In his time the City was made more fair than it had ever been, even in the days of its first glory; and it was filled with trees and with fountains, and its gates were wrought of mithril and steel, and its streets were paved with white marble; and the Folk of the Mountain laboured in it, and the Folk of the Wood rejoiced to come there; and all was healed and made good, and the houses were filled with men and women and the laughter of children, and no window was blind nor any courtyard empty; and after the ending of the Third Age of the world into the new age it preserved the memory and the glory of the years that were gone".

The model took about 6 months to design and build and contains about 11,500 parts.

For morning came, morning and a wind from the sea; and darkness was removed, and the hosts of Mordor wailed, and terror took them, and they fled, and died, and the hoofs of wrath rode over them. And then all the host of Rohan burst into song, and they sang as they slew, for the joy of battle was on them, and the sound of their singing that was fair and terrible came even to the City...

I'm very pleased with this photo. And yeah, there are a few gaps between the mountains and the Pelennor Fields but I noticed them after I destroyed the scene. But I think they are barely visible.

“For the fashion of Minas Tirith was such that it was built on seven levels, each delved into the hill, and about each was set a wall…” - J.R.R. Tolkien in The Lord of the Rings

Here I depicted this city, with all seven levels included, as it was seen in the movie by Peter Jackson. I've been meaning to build this for a long time, and Marchitecture finally gave me the impetus to start. It was a challenging build with lots of SNOT work, and used every lbg slope I own, but the result is worth it! I especially enjoy the tiny trebuchets.

Built for the fictional architecture category of Marchitecture.

Part of my Lighting of the Beacons MOC. Think this turned out amazing, my favourite part of it!

Sir Aric, the esteemed Gondor knight in Minas Tirith, walked through the old gardens and found peace amid the hectic of the battlefield.

The quiet beauty spoke to him and strengthened his commitment to protecting the city as the sun set on his walk.

"Once the pride of Gondor, a shining city near the River of Anduin, now a battlefield overrun by the evil forces of Sauron. Gondorians and Ithilien Rangers are fighting for their lives as more and more orcs keep approaching from the East, but it all seems like a never-ending wave of evil sweeping itself over the outnumbered forces of the West..."

After a long time of playing around and not doing much to it, pauses and delays during my times of working on this MOC, it's finally done. Unfortunately I had to rush the last bit for a little, I just really wanted to have it done. Most of this MOC features one of the first LEGO creation-related things I actually made in a bit over a year, several months ago.

In this picture, one of the buildings is removed to allow for a better look at the best two buildings. You can find this building in the pictures under the description, as well as more pics in my photostream.

Enjoy, C&C is welcome.

In other news...

- The Fell Beast has been delayed. As a result, I need to think of a next MOC for now... vote for your favorite idea:

1. Space Police car chase

2. Fangorn Forest with Ent

3. River Isen Battle

4. Second, smaller Osgiliath

5. Boromir's Last Stand

Well.. this is the REAL "Princess' House"...(I am the Princess!) :D

The most beautiful place of East Scotland. Was love at first sight. You will be welcome in my kingdom...just... BYOB!!! :D

In western Catalonia we have a kind of tolkeniesque "two towers", like Minas Tirith and Minas Morgul. In the foreground you have St. Andreu del Castell, in the ruins of Oliana castle, and up in the mountains the church of Castell-llebre castle (Sta. Maria). We even have a river running between both 'towers' (not the Anduin), the Segre.

"Gothmog was the lieutenant of the Witch-king in the Third Age, from Minas Morgul, who is most notable for his leading roles during the Siege of Osgiliath, which ended as a victory for Mordor, and later during the Battle of the Pelennor Fields."

Gothmog, the orc lieutenant of Morgul, as seen in

Fully sculpted and painted by me. A figure I've been wanting to make (and finish) for a long time, and now, here he is, at last.

"The markings upon the band begin to fade. The writing, which at first was as clear as red flame, has all but disappeared. A secret now that only fire can tell."

Gandalf started to believe that Bilbo Baggins' Magic Ring was the One.

In T.A. 3017 he visited Minas Tirith and studied the scrolls of ancient city archives.

Isildur's description was vital in helping Gandalf identify the Ring.

The Scroll of Isildur was a scroll made by Isildur himself during his short time in Minas Tirith after the War of the Last Alliance. The scroll held Isildur's account of the gaining of the Ring from Sauron and described the appearance of an inscription around the Ring while it was still hot. The Scroll was stored for millennia in the vaults of that city.

==================

It looks like a cloister, but it's only half of it, and located in the main entrance of Maria Laach abbey church. It's a kind of open narthex.

The black-and-white romanesque architecture of Maria Laach reminds me of the style devised by P. Jackson for the mythic city of Minas Tirith (in the LOTR of JRR Tolkien).

Aoraki / Mount Cook is the highest mountain in New Zealand, reaching 3,754 metres (12,316 ft). It lies in the Southern Alps, the mountain range which runs the length of the South Island. A popular tourist destination, it is also a favourite challenge for mountain climbers. Aoraki / Mount Cook consists of three summits lying slightly south and east of the main divide, the Low Peak, Middle Peak and High Peak, with the Tasman Glacier to the east and the Hooker Glacier to the west.
