One of the four minarets surrounding the Taj Mahal, seen in the photo in front of the red sandstone Mosque to the west of the tomb. On the other side of the Taj Mahal is the Jawab, a building that is a false mosque erected to correspond to or balance the true mosque on the western side. The Jawab is thought to have been used as a guest house.
The Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque has four minarets, each of which is around 106 meters high. The minaret has been the most significant component of Islamic architecture across the ages.
The Minarets are a series of jagged peaks located in the Ritter Range, a sub-range of the Sierra Nevada Mountains in the state of California. The peaks resemble the minarets of Islamic mosques. Collectively, they form an arête, a thin, knife-like, ridge of rock which is formed when two glaciers erode parallel U-shaped valleys. The smoke was from the quickly contained Sky Fire west of Yosemite. Not the best light, but a good view of this striking rocky ridge.

Das Minarett Islam Khodja ist das höchste Minarett in Ichan Qalʼа, der zum UNESCO-Welterbe zählenden historischen Altstadt Chiwas. Es wurde im frühen 20. Jahrhundert zusammen mit der Medrese Islam Khodja gebaut. Das Minarett Islam Khodja steht im Südosten der Altstadt unmittelbar vor dem Südflügel der Medrese Islam Khodja und bildet mit dieser ein bauliches Ensemble. Beide wurden zu Ehren Said Islam Khodjas, eines bedeutenden Würdenträgers unter dem Khan Said Muhammad Rahim II. (Regierungszeit 1863 bis 1910) und Wesir beziehungsweise erster Minister unter Khan Esfendijar (Regierungszeit 1910 bis 1920) gebaut. (Wikipedia)
Islam Khodja Minaret, the finest and most slender of Khiva's minarets rises to a height of 45m. A tip for architects: the arrangement of colours and ceramic sizes creates rings that get narrower as they reach the summit, making it appear even taller than it actually is. Its height meant it could be used as a military watchtower, but also as a guide, like a lighthouse in the desert, for caravans crossing the Kyzyl Kum in search of their next stopping place. The Minaret of Jamia Mosque, Punjab University seen from behind some trees. The mosque along with all of the early buildings in the New Campus was designed by the greek architect C. A. Doxiadis.

La Giralda de Séville (Espagne)
Ancien minaret hispano-mauresque de la grande mosquée almohade qui s'élevait sur l'emplacement de l'actuelle cathédrale, cette tour "La Giralda" devenue aujourd'hui le symbole de la ville exerce la fonction de clocher de la cathédrale.
Importante par son histoire, c'est aussi un monument d'une remarquable architecture.
Construite à l'image du minaret de la mosquée Koutoubia de Marrakech (Maroc), l'étage supérieur et le clocher à lanternon qui le surmonte est de style Renaissance européen.
En décembre 1928, elle fut déclarée Patrimoine National et en 1987, elle fut intégrée à la liste du Patrimoine de l'Humanité de l'UNESCO.

Le sanctuaire de Fatima Ma’soumeh ou Hazrat-e Masumeh et nommé aussi Hazrat-e Ma'soumeh situé à Qom, en Iran. Le sanctuaire compte 3 dômes et 6 minarets.

Le minaret d'Emin est un minaret situé à Tourfan (Gaochang) dans la régions autonomes de la République Populaire de Chine. Avec une hauteur de 44 mètres, c'est le plus haut minaret de Chine. Il mesure plus de 14 mètres de diamètre à la base et presque 3 m au sommet. Ce minaret a été construit en 1777.
Il est situé à une altitude d'environ 150 m en dessous du niveau de la mer.
Tourfan est une ville-oasis située dans la région autonome ouighoure du Xinjiang, en Chine.
Tourfan est depuis des siècles le centre d'une oasis fertile (production de raisins, entre autres) et une importante cité commerciale de la route de la soie.
