Mimi and her much larger brother, Gordo, were abandoned as newborns by their feral mother. My wife and a neighbor took turns bottle-feeding them until they were strong enough to survive. As adults, Gordo settled next door, while Mimi made our home her own.

I fell in love with Mimi almost immediately—her bright, alert eyes and endlessly curious nature were impossible to ignore. As a kitten, she used to curl up inside my hat on my desk and nap while I worked. She also had a habit of jumping onto my shoulders and riding around the house like she owned the place. In many ways, she still does.

I adopted Mimi at our county animal shelter yesterday. She is 8 years old and very sweet. I'm sure there will be many more pictures of her to come. I'll be catching up more on Flickr as she settles in here. Spent a long time at the shelter yesterday, looking at all the dogs and then waiting to complete the adoption process. :-)

One of my favorite restaurants is Mimi's Cafe. Aside from good food, I like their decorations. I took this shot wile waiting for our table. After some pretty heavy-duty processing, this was the result; a photo that could be hung on the wall as a decoration in itself.

Mama Mimi by Ross Walker

I have been known to criticize photographers who post photos they have taken of other people's art, but Mama Mimi is so delightful that I just had to share this. She was ceated in 2021 of reclaimed wood, driftwood, steel, and rocks found locally. The Danish artist is Thomas Dambo, who has created 80 "trolls" all around the world. This one is next to a small lake in Rendezvous Park near Jackson, Wyoming. When the water is higher it flows under Mimi's leg and you would have to cross her leg to get to this viewpoint. To give you an idea of her size, the top of her leg is about five feet above ground. If you want to visit Mimi you really need to know where she is. There are no signs telling you she exists or guiding you to her. Just walk a couple of hundred yards from the parking lot. She is worth it.
