Unfortunately, I can't even make out my own house. But it is in approximately the center of this photo. I've lived there in Mill Valley on Reed Street for almost 15 years so even if this was photographed 6 years ago, my house is still in there. My point is that I live in an area that is covered with trees and vegitation. This was a shock to my system when I moved from North Beach in SF shortly after the earthquake.
A bridge crosses the creek on a well maintained trail lined with forget-me-nots, ferns, redwood sorrel and trillium at Cascade Falls, Mill Valley. Located deep in Cascade Canyon in the foothills of Mount Tamalpais, Cascade Falls can course down in a torrent or trickle gently along, depending upon the amount of recent rainfall.
Fog has completely engulfed the lower part of Mount Tamalpais, the fog is so thick it looks like whipped cream. Beautiful sight.
While I sit home today watching rain and studying I remember this day walking barefoot on the sand and feeling the cold waters on Rodeo beach few days ago. Will return soon.

Mt Tamalpais is quickly becoming my new "old faithful." I think this past evening's outing was my 10th since May. The nice thing about Mt Tam is that if the sunset itself isn't explosive, you might still luck out and be able to capture fog coming over the multitude of ridges. But this time we had a nice warm sunset AND a nice blanket of fog. I was shooting alongside Larry Nienkark; we chose a high spot so we could get both the fog and the colorful sunlit high-level clouds.
This is one of the last shots I took; it was taken almost 20 minutes after the sun had officially set, that time when the cooler blue tones start to encroach on the warm remnants of sunset.
As usual, the outing ended with a nice dinner in Mill Valley.
Happy Monday!

Photo was taken on the Panoramic highway at the edge of Mill Valley, California. It is about 8 miles to San Francisco..which lights show as yellow in left corner. The fog is coming off the ocean up the valleys. Camera used was Canon 6d with Samyang 24mm lens.
More of my Golden Gate Bridge photos here; San Francisco photos here.

'Tis the season for sunsets and sunrises around here, that's for sure. After seeing endless rivers of beautiful recent sunrise photos from Kirby Cove, I decided to go practice the sincerest form of flattery by getting some shots of my own :)
Weather conditions are actually looking pretty good for this evening, so after I finish up some work I'll probably head out to the coast. If any locals want to get together, I'll probably be somewhere between HMB and SC, more likely toward the HMB end. Keeping my eye on the radar and webcams. Message me on FB if you want to meet up. I'll check messages in a few hours and get back to any of you then.
Fingers crossed...
