Conditions on board were austere, with limited space and water reserves, making it impossible to bathe during missions. The Barracuda is currently in Almada, transformed into a museum, giving the public an insight into life on board this historic submarine, which operated for 42 years.

This is the office and desk where I worked as a clerk/typist in the 7th Medical Battalion. I likely took this photo on a Sunday, my day off, showing a fellow soldier on C.Q. (Charge of Quarters) duty, manning the phone. Notably, he's not wearing fatigues. This shot embodies the spirit of classic G.I. Joe photography, capturing the character and personality of the moment.

My mother, sisters and me on the way to Majuro Atoll, Marshall Islands, aboard the troop ship U. S. S. General D. E. Aultman. The mustaches and other markings on our faces must be from the ceremony for crossing the International Date Line. Great fun for a 10-year-old boy! When we arrived at Kwajalein, Marshall Islands, women and children needed to climb down troop loading nets into waiting Navy landing craft for transportation to shore. The next morning, aboard a twin-engine, military C47 we flew 250+ miles to a jungle air strip on Majuro. This was early in the Korean Conflict and American troops and some families continued on to Japan and Korea.

The group includes uniformed soldiers, one man with an arm injury in a sling, and two women dressed in nurse uniforms. The soldiers appear to be wearing typical mid-20th-century military attire, and the image reflects the somber atmosphere of wartime or post-war Hungary. The photograph provides a glimpse into the lives of soldiers, medical staff, and civilians during a challenging historical period.

If you have ever read my profile then you know that I travel for our troops and troop families. Taking with me whatever skills I have and using them for them. Whether it is photobuttons, Photography, or Art Works it is my way of giving back to them. This Oil was made from a photo taken by me on Jan 01, 2004. It was burr-butt cold! Up at 4:30AM and then to the Flag Raising and PT Runs. Next was a short break and then the Basic Training Grad Day Events. All of the press and photographers were huddled like sardines in a tunnel walkway trying to keep out of the cold and very heavy January winds. Later that same year I was doing this again in temps of 104* and we were all begging for water just for some relief. I remember telling my son about the temps when he called during his deployment. He assured me that I would not want to trade places with him and his unit...it was 145* hot with 70+ lbs of Battle Rattle! All I could say was Bless You All For What You Do...For Our Many Freedoms. My work has never been about me, I like it that way, it's always about them. About their families and what they do. For all they do without for their love of Freedom. And later, at night, I did what all of The Blue Stars do...tried to sleep and prayed there would never be A Knock At The Door. And then I said a quiet Amen.
