LOCK-DOWN

In many ways it seems that LOCKDOWN has not totally passed by although we are still getting our boosters, for those that are in bad health or over 75. Currently in the GB (14-07-2022) there are over 2.7 million people with Covid, so contagion fully in check.

These following images were taken at a time when full lockdown was in place and things were very different. However this is the last of the postings.

One of my favourites of all time, the whole series I still listen to and enjoy. Happy days.

LOCK-DOWN

This is the second series of images from the lockdown. This time I have included photography based on things that I’ve seen on our walks into the countryside. Also of Painting, Decorated Stones, Reading Choices, Our Garden Flowers and listening to Music whenever possible.

Best wishes to all and keep well.

Patrick

Also some very sad messages, a momentous time.

Happy Travel Thursday, everyone!

Se cierra el boliche. CHAO.

No eches raíces, no te establezcas.

Chris McCandless "Hacia tierras salvajes". North Dakota - Abril de 1992. Citado en el libro de Jon Krakauer (Vayan a ver la película que salió recién con esta historia, dirigida por Sean Penn).

Tubular Bells is the debut studio album by the British musician Mike Oldfield, released on 25 May 1973 as the first album on Virgin Records. It comprises two mostly instrumental tracks. Oldfield, who was 19 years old when it was recorded, played almost all the instruments.

The most important promotion for the record came from an unexpected source, when the introduction to Part One was chosen to feature in the film The Exorcist, which was released in the United States in December 1973 and in European cinemas in March 1974. According to British film critic Mark Kermode, the decision to include the music was the result of pure chance – director William Friedkin had decided to scrap the original score by Lalo Schifrin and was looking for music to replace it. Friedkin was visiting the offices of Ahmet Ertegun, president of Atlantic Records (which distributed Tubular Bells in the US), and picking up a white label of the album from the selection of records in Ertegun's office, he put it on the record player and instantly decided that the music would be perfect for the movie. Although the introduction only features briefly in two scenes in the movie, it has become the track most commonly associated with it. Oldfield has stated that he did not want to see the film because he believed he would find it too frightening.

Happy 50th Anniversary, Mike Oldfield!

Mosaic comes from Latin and means "of the muses"

Muses are the spirits who inspire arts and literature.

Musing is a verb which means to gaze or consider something in slient thought.

An amazing live Version of "Tubular Bells":

Mike Oldfield "Tubular Bells"

When you wake up early and go out to take pictures you never know what you might find, you don't know if you'll find something interesting or if you'll go home with nothing... but when you get to a place like this, I'm just fascinated by what they see my eyes, many times I have to move the camera away from my face, to see if what I'm looking at through the viewfinder is real or not... for me this is like a "magical forest" that's why I've put this title, the moments that I spend there, make me forget a little about all the things that I have going around my head and focus only on what I see and on the place where I am... it's incredible but it's like If I were in one of those stories I used to read and watch as a child, where everything was fabulous and enchanting... now as an adult, this is one of the few ways I have to keep that fascinating and beautiful feeling inside me...

This song is dedicated to all those who in some way can feel identified with this...

I went out for a walk being careful to adhere to the social distancing advice here in the UK. I was looking for signs of the effect of the coronavirus on people's lives. I live in a popular seaside town that relies on seasonal trade to survive.

Many of the restaurants and coffee shops have now had to close, as mass gatherings have been stopped. There is a notice in the window of this coffee shop outlining their closure. The screen had obviously been put in the window and it caught my eye as the irony of the book title in the window did not escape me.....'The President is Missing'.....I don't think so!

Many of the people who will pass through this page will not even read this, this is the rhythm of life…. It's okay ... I'm always interested in knowing what's behind an image or a scene ... there are probably people, events, special moments, feelings ... but there is always, always a story ... this is mine ... And I need to share it with you!

After some time without being able to travel due to the pandemic, in the middle of this month of November we were able to travel by plane to our beloved island of Ibiza to see the family that we have living there. As I have already said on occasion, whenever I go to this beautiful island I take my camera and go for a walk around it ... this time it was not going to be less. I had three important things to do here, as I said, the first was to see my loved ones, the second was to visit a great childhood friend and the third was to go to a magical and mystical place called Es vedrà. I did all three ... the second and third were very special, very spiritual and very emotional for me and I had to do them alone ... a year and a half ago this friend of mine died here on the island, he was very young ... too young, I couldn't say goodbye to him as he deserved, because of the restrictions that existed then ... now I did ... it was a cloudy Saturday in November on the little island of the sun ... that didn't help much .. After talking, laughing and crying spiritually by his side, I got in the car and drove for about ten minutes along a road with many curves, an eternal road ... until I reached the viewpoint of Es Vedrà where I wanted to connect with nature, relax and reflect quietly ... I did so ... then I took out the camera and photographed the immensity of the place that I had in front of my eyes, in that impressive blue hour on a somewhat complicated Saturday afternoon ... I love you my friend, fly high!

Never has music adapted so well to what I experienced and felt that afternoon ... an afternoon with many emotions, mood swings, many memories, feelings, helplessness, sadness, euphoria, nostalgia, melancholy ... yes you want here is the link:

The great British composer and musician Mike Oldfield lived in Ibiza for several years, the cover of his album "Voyager" was made in this same place.

Everyone has lost people they love at some point in their life and have suffered that ... writing this I do not claim the condolences of anyone, nor that they are sad, I only write this to pay tribute to a good friend and to free myself from these chains so heavy I have on me. If I would like to say something to you my friends, remember to say I love you to the people you love ... this is a very short trip ... thank you all very much!

Taking a macro shot of the remains of my dinner on the plate the other night - as you do - I was surprised to see the patterns resembled mini worlds. It was a toss up between the Donovan song with this one but I settled on the Mike Oldfield.

M.Oldfield : Talk about your life

Walking Out In The Street Light, Midnight.

Whisper Wind, Catch Me In The Headlight.

Talk About Your Life, I'd Like To Know.

It's Not Easy Going Where No-One Goes,

And No-One Knows.

Do We Have To Be So Distant?

How Can You Be So Unreal?

What's The Reason For Hiding, And

How Does Crying Make You Feel?

I Can See You're Talking To Me In Riddles.

Do What You Like, You Go Where The Wind Blows.

Talk About Your Life, I'd Like To Know.

It's Not Easy Going Where No-One Goes,

And No-One Knows.

Do We Have To Be So Distant?

How Can You Be So Unreal?

What's The Reason For Hiding, And

How Does Crying Make You Feel?

I Reach For Certain Disguise That You're Leaving,

And I Can Tell By The Mist In Your Eyes That You're Dreaming.

Dreaming.

Do We Have To Be So Distant?

How Can You Be So Unreal?

In The Clouds, Running And Chasing Shadows.

In The Crowd, Frozen In The Window.

Talk About Your Life, I'd Like To Know.

It's Not Easy Going Where No-One Goes,

And No-One Knows.

Do We Have To Be So Distant?

How Can You Be So Unreal?

What's The Reason For Hiding, And

How Does Crying Make You Feel?

"I'm not Regan."

"Well, then let's introduce ourselves. I'm Damien Karras."

"And I'm the Devil. Now kindly undo these straps."

Guinness World Record: Heroes’ Cross on Caraiman Peak, Bucegi mountains, Romania

The Heroes’ Cross is a monument built between 1926 and 1928 on Caraiman Peak at an altitude of about 2300 m located in Romania, in the Bucegi Mountains of the Southern Carpathians. It has a height of 36 metres (118 ft) and these are the “ingredients” that introduced it on the list of World Guinness Records as the world’s tallest cross situated on a mountain pick.

At first lighting of the monument was made with the help of an electricity generator (located in the concrete pedestal) and 120 bulbs of 500 W each. Nowadays, at night, the Cross on Caraiman is illuminated with 300 light bulbs of 500 W each and can be seen from dozens of miles away, on the Prahova Valley.

In Romania, the cross is on the list of the Historical Monuments that Ministry of Culture made, being placed in A group buildings with an universal value. The cross was erected at the initiative of Marie of Edinburgh and King Ferdinand of Romania in order to be seen from a large distance as possible.

You will have nothing but love,

Nothing but hope, blue sky above.

You will find nothing but peace,

Nothing but the sun shining on your face.

[ chorus ]

When you open your eyes,

When you open your eyes.

You will feel nothing but free,

Nothing but trust, thats how it should be.

And one who cares about nothing but you,

Watching close by the whole night through.

[ repeat chorus ]

You will feel nothing but warm,

Nothing but shelter from the storm.

You will have nothing but rest,

Deep in your heart, nothing but the best.

[ repeat chorus ]

Nothing but love when you open your eyes.

Nothing but love when you open your eyes.

A Place Where You Can't Tell The Devil From Your Brother

Poisoned Every Breath You Take

It's Just Like One Nightmare After The Other

You Know, It's Not Too Late To Leave Tomorrow

'Cause I Know Where I'm Going

(Chorus)

I Am Building A Bridge To Paradise

I Am Building A Bridge To Paradise

This Town You Can't Control

A Place That Fascinates, Hits You With The Drama

Don't Worry Now For My Soul

You Know, It's Not Too Late For You To Follow

'Cause I Know Where I'm Going

The last that ever she saw him carried away by a moonlight shadow

he passed on worried and warning carried away by a moonlight shadow

lost in a riddle that Saturday night far away on the other side

he was caught in the middle of a desperate fight

and she couldn't find how to push through

The trees that whisper in the evening carried away by a moonlight shadow

sing a song of sorrow and grieving carried away by a moonlight shadow

all she saw was a silhouette of a gun far away on the other side

he was shot six times by a man on the run

and she couldn't find how to push through

I stay I pray see you in heaven far away

I stay I pray see you in heaven one day

Four a.m. in the morning carried away by a moonlight shadow

I watched your vision forming carried away by a moonlight shadow

star moves slowly in a silvery night far away on the other side

will you come to talk to me this night

but she couldn't find how to push through

I stay I pray see you in heaven far away

I stay I pray see you in heaven one day

Far away on the other side

Caught in the middle of a desperate fight

the night was heavy and the air was alive

but she couldn't find how to push through

Carried away by a moonlight shadow

carried away by a moonlight shadow

far away on the other side

Easter Monday and I had a lovely drive around with Sinead in an attempt to find nice new spots. After we drove all the way to Cove (thanks Dougie for showing us) the weather was really not great so we made our way back to The Lothians. Conditions were not ideal but we stopped everywhere more or less on the way, Dunbar, The Bridge to Nowhere, North Berwick, Gullane, Aberlady, Longniddry, Cockenzie and Port Seton. Finally, we saw some light hitting Longniddry Bents across the water. Quickly drove back and managged to snap this one last minute (well last 4 minutes to be precise).
