Sandhill Cranes in Kearney Nebraska during their annual migration from New Mexico, Texas to Canda
Great to see from all directions sometime follow other time they just turn to other direction
I've enjoyed watching the practice flights of Operation Migration, in which the Whooping Cranes are being trained to fly with the ultra-light planes. Soon, Operation Migration leaves on the long migration to Florida!
Indigo resist work centered around the theme of human migrations past and present on cotton flour sack towels. The diverse shapes suggest individual migrants as they reach their destination (strong contrast) while the memories of their former lives are left behind (fading).
The Center on Conflict and Development at Texas A&M University is working with in-country partners to study the inter-relationship between youth development and migration.

Walk
"You don't have to be a Hall of Fame athlete to benefit from your feet. Studies have shown that walking just 30 minutes per day will lengthen your lifespan by 1.3 years. How many years might we extend the life of our planet if we used our feet instead of our cars for traveling short distances?"
"Cars need gasoline and emit carbons that contribute to global warming: feet just need the water you drink and are carbon-free! If you live close enough, try walking to school or work. If you're planning a move, think about walking opportunities when you choose your new location. Nearby public transportation, shopping, schools and workplaces allow you to leave your car at home and enjoy the great outdoors. It doesn't matter what shoes you wear, as long as you wear them out!"
"Enough talk, let's WALK!"
Here's a variety of snow geese (Chen caerulescens), Canada geese (Branta canadensis), and tundra swans (Cygnas columbianus) making plenty of noise while moving around the half-frozen lake.
This was taken at the PPL Corporation's Montour Preserve in Montour county, Pennsylvania.

Every fall, during fall migration, I will have a single collared dove show up for a few days in my yard. Never more than one at a time and only during the month of November. They are striking in their size and colors. The largest dove I've seen. Just passing thru.
