I thought that this Heron would have no problems eating this long thin fish; however, that was not the case. I watched it struggle trying to swallow for several minutes. I finally walked away because I thought I might be putting off its meal. I was gone about 45 minutes, and when I came back the Great Blue was in the same place, but the lump was no longer sticking out of the side of its neck.
The Livraria Lello might be the most beautiful bookshop in the world but its certainly the busiest . There were crowds of people inside that totally stopped ones enjoyment of the place . It would be a lovely place to explore when it is closed to the public . One of the reasons its so dammed popular is the Harry Potter connection apparently JK Rowling was inspired by this building to start writing the books . I did my best to find a POV that did not include too many people this was the best I managed . It does show off the rather marvellous staircase
The Livraria Lello is a bookshop in the centre of Porto.Along with Bertrand in Lisbon, it is one of the oldest bookstores in Portugal and frequently rated among the top bookstores in the world
The owners hired engineer Francisco Xavier Esteves to construct the new bookstore on Rua das Carmelitas in 1906.The ample interior space is marked by a forked staircase connecting to a gallery on the first floor with detailed wood balusters.

OK, so Sunday might have found me messing about with a raspberry and a torch, along with some dark material :D
You might be thinking that I went to Mars for this photo, but in fact I found this cool beetle crawling around locally at Cardinal Marsh last summer. This unique beetle is designed by nature to look like a dangerous stinging wasp so potential predators steer clear, even though it's totally harmless. Adults like this one likely feed on tree leaves and sap while their larvae consume the wood in decaying oak trees.
Although you might not think so from the look of the area today, the peaceful marsh-side area at the bottom of Marshlands Roads, near The Harp public house, was once the largest industrial site in the region. This was where the region’s Industrial Revolution started. There were coal mines, as well as other industrial activities, with over 300 people employed in the 1920s. The first steam engine anywhere in Wirral and west Cheshire was sited here during the early Industrial Revolution and later the great engineer, George Stephenson, visited the site. The mine workings stretched out under the river...a dangerous business!!
Well, I might have thought I would be back in Snowdonia by now, but I was reading earlier it might be months before the law is changed and we are allowed back to our favourite places in Wales.
But like many others, during lockdown, we have been exploring closer to home. It's taken me a while to dig out some local Ordnance Survey maps and work out a couple of interesting circular routes in areas I've not considered before (although I've never been one for going to the same places time and again, haha!). I might never have taken this shot except some sixth sense told me to look behind me. Nothing beats a walk like this on your own when the countryside is this beautiful. Just peace, perfect peace.

It might not seem so, but this is a digital picture taken and retouched today.
It´s my brother, Diego, who has helped me as model to try to recreate the famous painting of the scream.
I hope you enjoy!

This shot might have been part of my Scottish photos except it was photographed in Yorkshire . We did see Reds in Scotland but very fleetingly I was never able to get a shot of one . This red squirrel was more cooperative it was taken in the Yorkshire Arboretum at Castle Howard .
In the UK and Ireland , red squirrel populations have decreased enormously in recent years. This decline is associated with the introduction by humans of the eastern grey squirrel (Sciurus carolinensis) from North America .

Might as well get up and get going my nan used to say if sleep eluded her, and with school holidays it's good to have the opportunity to go for a wander rather than just drink cups of tea while catching up on cleaning!!

It might happen that your life is running in a routinary way, and suddenly something interfere with it.

I might be a bit on and off in the lead up to Christmas ... and so might many of you. So just in cases (hopefully you've watched "Love Actually" the best Christmas movie of all time) ... I wish all my wonderful Flickr family a safe, happy and joyous Christmas. And for those of you enjoying a white (or even a cool) Christmas ... throw a snowball or two for me, I'm seriously envious ... and I promise to think of you whilst drinking champagne in the pool :)
(I might have been reminded a tiny bit of the Death Star of Star Wars; thus the title)

Smudge .... getting much more attentive these days to me which is a good trait as he's actually listening and obeying. I think also I might have found his forte ... unfortunately. depending on which way you look at it or whose side you're on, it appears to be canicross!

Thank you in advance for all your faves and comments. I might answer several days later. And I might post other photos in the meantime.

This might be my favorite from my first of what I hope to be many more chases on CSXT's new former Pan Am Railways territory.
CSXT Selkirk to Rigby manifest M426 (formerly Pan Am Railways AYPO) has three old school AC4400CWs in the lead as they catch a dramatic sun hole amidst the shadows approaching the signal bridge at CPF307 at the east end of a 2 1/4 mile stretch of double track on the old Stony Brook Branch, now CSXT's (PAR's) Freight Main.

We might get a few more blooms, but they are almost done for the year. The photo was a spur of the moment decision on a day that wasn't too windy and also not too contrasty -- for once.
This one is highly cropped into the pistils because my original angle was poorly conceived and executed.

You might think I’m okay with settling
But I’ll do anything to prove you wrong
Don’t you try to shut me down again
No, I won’t pretend that I’m not strong
‘Cause I know that I belong
Tearing down these brick walls you built up around me
And they crumble down, every single piece
Watch ‘em fall, I’m standing tall
Rising up above it all
I can see straight through that ceiling
Break free, I’m making ‘em believe it
Watch it crash, can’t hold me back
Yeah, I’m shattering glass
You might think I’m a pretty face dressed up in pearls
But I run the world, ’cause I’m a mean queen girl-boss who won’t give you a second thought, while I’m
Girls just want to have fun, after we get our shit done
(Tearing down these) brick walls you built up around me
And they crumble down, every single piece
Watch ‘em fall, I’m standing tall
Rising up above it all
I can see straight through that ceiling
Break free, I’m making ‘em believe it
Watch it crash, can’t hold me back
Yeah, I’m shattering glass

"Where your pleasure is, there is your treasure: where your treasure, there your heart; where your heart, there your happiness."
Saint Augustine
While admiring all the tall bamboo culms, I suddenly noticed a small movement on the surface. If you look closely you might just see an eight legged beauty. Hooray for Mother Nature and new gardens to explore!
thought I might be nice to show also a different photo in color and looking at a different angle at these two origami modulars.
(You can see the monochrome version in the first comment box, in case you missed it.)
Have a wonderful Friday ;-)

You might be wondering how all this came about? This was one of those perfect mornings that started as a complete chaos! At the very end, low hanging clouds and sun cutting the thick fog at the horizon were enough to make me forget all occurring problems I was having at that time. Without going in too many details I will let the view speak for it self. What do you think?
This tower might look like a chimney because of the cloud placement but it's actually a war memorial.
Crich Stand is a memorial tower, originally erected in 1923 to the memory of the 11,409 members of the Sherwood Foresters (Nottinghamshire & Derbyshire) Regiment who died in the First World War. Further dedications extend this to members of the regiment who perished during the Second World War and up until 1970, and to those who died serving in the successor regiments; the Worcestershire and Sherwood Foresters Regiment from 1970 to 2007 and the Mercian Regiment since 2007.
The memorial stands on a carboniferous limestone outcrop that has been partly quarried away on its western flank, creating a cliff that overlooks the village of Crich in the English county of Derbyshire. It is 286 metres (938 ft) above sea level, is 19 m (64 ft) high and has 59 steps to the top. From the top there are extensive views, and on a clear day Lincoln Cathedral, some 40 miles (64 km) away, can be seen.
Semana Santa de Cieza, 2016
You might want to enjoy the whole series in this album / Puedes disfrutar la serie completa si te apetece en este album
You won't find many places in Spain where the Nazarenos enjoy themselves throwing sweets to anybody moving around. You can't understand the way they celebrate the Semana Santa: it's beyond any religious beliefs, and closer to the character of this region's inhabitants/ No encontraréis muchos sitios en los que los nazarenos se diviertan tirando caramelos a todo el mundo. No es posible comprender la forma en la que celebran la Semana Santa: está más allá de cualquier creencia religiosa, y más próxima al carácter de los habitantes de esta región.
I'm an avid reader of many, many things deep and profound. Challenge my mind and you might catch a glimpse of my heart. There's so much lovely nature in the world, so many incredible things we need to protect and help prosper. I hope there'll be tiny dragons out there one day..

You might see a pattern in my work!
I love back-lit golden sunshine shots.
Especially with colourful flowers or leaves. They might be a bit repetitive but they bring me joy and satisfaction.
And that's what a hobby should be about - doing something you love and not caring if it's the same old same old.
If it makes you happy, go for it!
One might think this photo is edited. Not so, not the moon, but the sun through a morning fog that was lifting. Strange to be able to view the sun with the naked eye A great moment lasting only a few minutes. Not a beautiful morning sunrise, but an interesting one.
Thanks for the visit!!
Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.
You might think this image was taken with using a tripod near ground level, With a small aperture on a wide angle lens. You would be mostly wrong.
This was taken from a train moving at about 20 MPH. This taken with a Super wide (7mm) at F4, at 1/8000 sec, focused at the front third of the Ice. It was a low angle, but handheld while I was hanging off the side of the train.
