Midsummer is Sweden's major sommar¬fest. The heat has come and the nights are long and bright.
In peasant society folklore was midsummer night one of the year's most magical nights, when nature flowed forces. The boundary between the human world and the supernatural realm was believed to be thinner than usual and there are many stories about the amazing things that could happen this night.
Love Fortune telling was certainly mostly playful pursuits, but there was still a shred of seriousness in them. A form of midsummer magic still exists today: to pick flowers to put under your pillow to dream of the man should marry. The flowers were traditionally picked in silence - broken it was also the magic broken.
The number of flowers was uneven, 7 or 9.
Sometimes also says that she will climb over as many fences as she picks flowers.

Found another shot from my midsummer night's wander on Lillfjället in Borgafjäll. By now the nights are quite dark again.
The brown-bear looking something eat,,,roots,,berries,,nearby little pond,,clock is about three am(night),, so calm,,little mist,, warm,,peacefull. The wild bear is all the time about 10 - 15 m. from us.
Beautiful midsummernight memories,,,beautiful colors, pond so calm,,gull on the dead-dood, wildlife so peacefull on real wilderness nearby russian border.
Another shot from the night I wandered around on Lillfjället in Borgafjäll. The sun is just on it's way to hide behind the mountains and the river Korpån meanders in the valley below. The small Kalmia procumbens (Krypljung, Trailing Azalea) has just begun to flower in the shelter of a rock.
The sun shows some pink color on Volcano Hekla at my midsummernight tour.
This was an epic night, the sunset and sunrise lasted over 5 hours with a amazing colors that you would not belive unless you would have been there to witness it :)

Tiroler Berge in Flammen: Wenn der längste Tag auf die kürzeste Nacht trifft, wird der Sommer im alpenländischen Raum mit Feuern am Berg begrüßt.
Ein mittelalterlicher Brauch, der auch in Tirol eine lange Tradition hat, sind die Bergfeuer, die zur Sonnenwende um den 21. Juni entzündet werden. Zahlreiche Vereine und Gruppen machen sich jedes Jahr auf den Weg, um an diesem Abend ihr Höhenfeuer zu entzünden und so den längsten Tag im Jahr zu feiern. Kurz nach Einbruch der Dunkelheit leuchten große Sonnwendfeuer von den Bergen und bieten eine mystische Kulisse. Im Juni sind wieder spektakuläre Feuerbilder mit unterschiedlichen Motiven und Symbolen zu sehen.
