Glen Righ (Kings Glen) is the picturesque woodland within the setting of Inchree forest (Onich; Scottish Highlands).
I love and value the moments I’m able to enjoy walking within nature and listening to the silence of leaves rustling in the wind – the trickle of a running brook, waterfall; stream. These are healing moments that I treasure.

Tolkien

A journey to Middle-earth
« Arrived at the gates of Mordor, facing the terrible sharp walls of the Ired Lithui, Frodo the Hobbit, understood that it is in these unlikely and threatening places, that one must discover in oneself the courage to face one's fears» Patrice photographiste, based on J.R.R. Tolkien's story.

But soulless a faery dies

Rings Filming Location
Mordor and Mount Doom
The Lord of the Ring location of Mordor, home to the Dark Lord Sauron was shot on location on and around the rocky slopes of the Tongariro National Park. The area’s jagged volcanic rock formations and eerie barren landscapes were ideal location for creating Mordor’s hissing wasteland.
The beautiful Mt Ngauruhoe was digitally transformed to create the fiery Mt Doom, the centre of Frodo’s quest to save Middle-Earth. Visitors have been known to trek to the summit and throw their ring into Mt Ngauruhoe to save middle-earth. The summits of the volcanoes were not filmed out of respect for the wishes of the Maori People towhom the peaks are sacred.
You can enjoy this fantastic landscape while walking the Tongariro Crossing.

The hemlock-umbels tall and fair,
And in the glade a light was seen
Of stars in shadow shimmering.

To music of a pipe unseen,
And light of stars was in her hair,
And in her raiment glimmering.

The Middle Earth
My Name is Patrice, Patrice the Hobbit.
I live in Middle Earth, the world of Tolkien and Lord of the Rings.
Tolkien never spoke of me in his many epic tales;
I believe it is because I refused to go and fight Sauron the black Prince of Mordor, that region also known as "The land of Shadows" that you see in the distance.
I already understood that the threats we feel in front of the unknown, lie mostly within us;
So I climbed the Mont du lac des Cygnes (Mount of the Lake of Swans)
And I fought my own fears
Until the light flooded the Mordor.
I did not defeat anybody, except the shadows that inhabited me;
Tolkien never knew.
And it is very good like this,
Who am I, a simple Hobbit, to rewrite such a fantastic story?

West of Time: Fangorn Forest *
“Fantasy adventures rarely have an end. There is always someone to understand their foundations and continue the story” (A wise man)
__________
I have returned to the West of Time, where it all began, at the edge of Fangorn Forest.
Dark trees bearing magnificent white flowers stretched out their long branches, as if to mark, with a welcoming gesture, the passage to the depths of the forest. They might have been distant ancestors of our apple trees, but according to local history they belonged to the Ent civilization, the oldest in Middle-earth. These trees were believed to be endowed with a form of “consciousness” and a collective memory going back to the origins. They were said to be able to communicate with each other and with other species and even to act together in the common interest...
Suddenly, I was overwhelmed by a tide of persistent impressions: curiosity, extreme vigilance, the distant echo of shadowy areas, gaping wounds in the heart of the trees. Then, a steady rustle of leaves froze me in place with apprehension. And, in a way that I cannot explain, I understood the meaning: “Be careful while crossing the forest. Show us respect. And we will help you find the courage to face the mysteries and dangers you will face in the World. (Patrice the Hobbit)
____________
In the East of Time, modern Rationalism has relegated stories, tales, ancient legends including the writings of Tolkien and many other great authors, to the domains of the imagination, spirituality, pure magic, folklore and entertainment. As is, none of these writings had any resonance with useful knowledge drawn from human experience...
However, recent discoveries in neurobiology, plant biology and ecology applied to trees and forests tend to give a scientific basis to several old myths about them: trees are social and conscious entities, capable of learning, interacting and advancing. **
What the elders knew, but could not express in words, rather in metaphorical and poetic imagery, like Tolkien - now becomes a field of modern scientific research, peripheral indeed, but courageous and promising.

Furness Arch - just learned the name 2 years after I posted the photo. Frank Furness, a famed architect, designed the arch for the Connecticut display at the 1876 Centennial Exposition in Fairmount Park. Later it was moved to this site to mark the beginning of the stairs to Strawberry Mansion atop the bluff.

Matamata, North Island, New Zealand. A spring walk around the 12-acre Hobbiton movie set used for the Lord of the Rings Hobbit film trilogies. This is the residence of Samwise Gamgee. Hobbiton is actually in the middle of a working farm of 1200 acres supporting 13,000 sheep and 300 Angus beef cattle. Kiwi film director Peter Jackson discovered the Alexander farm in September 1998 during an aerial search for film sites for The Lord of the Rings Trilogy. The fantastic views and rolling countryside closely resembled that of the 'Shire’ in the popular classics by J.R.R Tolkien.

"" The Middle-Earth is not ... One of my invention. Is a modernization or alteration ... of an ancient Word That meant the inhabited world From Men, oikoumene :. Because middle you thought vaguely that it was placed in the middle of the seas that surrounded it, and (in the imagination Nordic) Among the icy north and the Southern fires. "
J.R.R. Tolkien
Also cold days here in Italy.
Here to me little snow, but the mountains around have substantial white dusting.
The "middle-earth" has its destiny:))
Incredibly in our Alps there is no snow and ski resorts must be adapted to plan housewives snows.
While in our South, usually with mild winters, it has been flooded with so much snow to block roads, railways and planes
Image and textures are mine
Thanks for your recent visit , always all much appreciated...

Southern Alps, New Zealand.
The Southern Alps (Māori: Kā Tiritiri o te Moana) are a mountain range extending along much of the length of New Zealand's South Island, reaching its greatest elevations near the island's western side.
The range runs 500 km north to south. The tallest peak is Aoraki / Mount Cook, the highest point in New Zealand at 3,724 metres (12,218 ft) and there are sixteen other points that exceed 3,000 metres (9,800 ft) in height. The mountains are cut through with glacial valleys and lakes.
The Southern Alps lie along a geological plate boundary, part of the Pacific Ring of Fire, with the Pacific Plate to the southeast pushing westward and colliding with the northward-moving Indo-Australian Plate to the northwest.
