Microsoft's hard-edged booth at SC07 did nothing to quiet critics. However, there were some relatively positive comments from HPCwire Editor Michael Feldman:
"Microsoft released a beta version of Windows HPC Server 2008, the successor to Microsoft Compute Cluster Server 2003. Better name, more capabilities. New features include support for new high-speed networking, scalable cluster management tools, advanced failover capabilities, a service-oriented architecture (SOA) job scheduler, and support for partners' clustered file systems. The SOA capability is an
interesting avenue. As I understand it, Microsoft is looking to bypass MPI and use Web service routing as a way to support high-throughput SOA applications. You can download the HPC Server beta at www.microsoft.com/hpc. The company is planning to launch the product sometime in the second half of 2008."

As usual with Microsoft, there are multiple viewpoints that undermine the technical assertions, but don't necessarily slow down their momentum:
I got the idea for using miniatures from a YouTube video and thought my old Zune would be a cool looking pool overhead. So I ordered a light box and some figures.

Riley = suspicious. You know, for something new.

Microsoft Surface spotted at Hotel 1000 in downtown Seattle. Pretty cool device, too bad the project was killed because of costs.
I stayed up allnight last night tho, I made a new friends here.
