Magnus visited the vet today for a check-up. Back the day I first picked him up, I stopped by the vet to check for a microchip. They weighed him that day: 28.6 pounds. Well, today, two weeks later, Magnus weighs 38.2 pounds. Impressive, no? He's still a "titch" underweight, per the vet. (What's a "titch" anyway?) When we first met Magnus back on April 3, we guesstimated his age to be three months. That has been confirmed as Magnus is probably roughly four months old now. He is healthy and happy and a real joy. The vet tech fell in love with him, and Magnus calmly submitted to everything the vet did with a wagging tail. What a good pooch! Essentially, he is physically like a newfoundland. My vet wondered if there wasn't either Australian Cattle Dog blood or even German Shorthair Pointer blood in his veins as well. Kevin thinks it's Cattle Dog given he tends to like to herd Kevin. Who knows? You know, if it were only $30 to get that blood test, I would do it. Now it's $60 (I just found a coupon code and checked if it worked--oh, one's available for $49 on eBay. . . hmmmmm). If I were keeping him, I would be tempted to run the test (I'd choose the Wisdom Panel as it's the only one to include Australian Cattle Dog). It just would be interesting to find out what all is in this boy. . .

All in all, Magnus is doing fabulously well. The cats are adjusting to his presence, too. Even The Queen came over and sniffed him a little bit ago while he was sacked out on the dog bed at my feet. Magnus wisely submitted himself to The Queen wagging his tail briefly.

Photo from Texas A&M's "Aggieland Saturday" high school recruitment

event, where prospective students come and explore the different schools

and departments at A&M. We took the SMP robot chassis, which you have

seen before climb stairs (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dXyvIec2trc),

and interfaced it with an RF transmitter/receiver from a $10 remote

control car. The dsPIC33 sits in the middle, taking the on/off signals

from the RF unit and turning them into PWM for each pair of motors

(we've reused the Krisys Control Board that we used in the summer

workshop). The robot, which we have dubbed "Fido", was a big hit,

stealing the thunder from many of the other engineering booths.

These YouTube videos show Fido can descend stairs quite easily. In order

to climb steeper stairs, we're going to need bigger wheels though. The

platform has the torque; it will literally run itself up the wall if you

give it the chance.

The 8 pins PIC12F683 microcontroller is one of the smallest members of the Microchip 8-bit microcontroller families but equipped with powerful peripherals such as ADC and PWM capabilities. This make this tiny microcontroller is suitable for controlling the DC motor speed. In order to demonstrate the PIC12F683 capabilities and to make this tutorial more attractive, I decided to use the PIC12F683 microcontroller to generate simple and yet fascinating laser light show from a cheap keychain laser pointer. chipKIT Pro MX4 : Embedded Systems Trainer Board

The chipKIT™ Pro MX4 is a microcontroller development board based on the Microchip® PIC32MX460F512L, a member of the 32-bit PIC32 microcontroller family. It is compatible with Digilent's line of Pmods, and is suitable for use with the Microchip MPLAB® IDE tools. The chipKIT Pro MX4 is also compatible for use with the chipKIT MPIDE development environment.

The chipKIT Pro MX4 provides 74 I/O pins that support a number of peripheral functions, such as USB controller, UART, SPI, and I2C ports as well as five pulse-width modulated outputs and five external interrupt inputs. Fifteen of the I/O pins can be used as analog inputs in addition to their use as digital inputs and outputs.

After the disaster,

I'm conscious of listening radiation, which we cannot perceive.

sound comes from glass bell

triggered by detection of radiation sensor included art work.

Have you experience already?

this sound of wind bell, called furin in japan.

origin of furin, japanese wind bell is said that

at ancient time, bell set at the interface of territory

to sense and avoid evil existence we cannot perceive.

when I reached this context,

I felt this is the attitude to get this sound with radiation now.

Glass dome keep away from wind

also shut the sound

As it reminds disposal way,

it is still sounding.
