Microchip announced an expansion of its eXtreme Low Power (XLP) PIC® microcontrollers (MCUs) with the PIC24F “GB2” family. This new family features an integrated hardware crypto engine, a Random Number Generator (RNG) and One-Time-Programmable (OTP) key storage for protecting data in embedded applications. The PIC24F “GB2” devices offer up to 128 KB Flash and 8 KB RAM in small 28- or 44-pin packages, for battery-operated or portable applications such as “Internet of Things” (IoT) sensor nodes, access control systems and door locks.
Microchip Technology's MCP795WXX/BXX RTCC devices have a 10 MHz SPI interface, non-volatile memory and an effective combination of features at a price lower than most competitors’ devices, including those with fewer features.
Microchip's next-generation family of energy-measurement Analog Front Ends (AFEs) feature industry-leading accuracy. The MCP3913 and MCP3914 integrate six and eight 24-bit, sigma-delta Analog-to-Digital Converters (ADCs), respectively, with 94.5 dB SINAD, -106.5 dB THD and 112 dB SFDR for high-accuracy signal acquisition and higher-performing end products. Microchip also announced two new tools to aid in the development of energy systems using these AFEs. The MCP3913 Evaluation Board (part # ADM00522) and MCP3914 Evaluation Board (part # ADM00523) can each be purchased today for $99.99. The MCP3914’s two extra ADCs enable the monitoring of more sensors with one chip, lowering cost and size. Additionally, the programmable data rate of up to 125 ksps with low-power modes allows designers to scale down for better power consumption or to use higher data rates for advanced signal analysis, such as calculating harmonic content. Main objective of the project in development is the control of Digital Cameras (pocket or DSLR) via USB.
(not using CHDK for Canon, we really talk with the Camera via USB)
At the moment we are able to control via USB Canon and Nikon cameras (shooting immediate or in time lapse, time shutter speed)
We are working with external sensor (light, movement, sound etc) to trigger the shoot as the event is reached.

The theme for the Macro Monday group this monday is "How does it work inside?". So I got this picture of a microchip before it's final assembly. Here the chip is mounted in the centre and around the outside are the pins which will be connected to it by very fine wires. Then some plastic will be injection moulded around the whole thing to make it look like a chip, and the pins will then be bent into shape.
The piece of silicon in the centre is aprroximately 1cmx1cm, which gives you some idea of perspective.
Can't tell you what it is used for, top secret:-).

Microchip announced the combined analog and digital current sensor—the PAC1921. The new device is a dedicated power monitoring device with a configurable analog output that can present power, current or voltage. The PAC1921, available in a 10-lead 3 x 3 mm DFN package, contains a digital current sensor to maximize data and diagnostic reporting, while having an analog current sensor to minimize data latency. The analog output can be configured to represent power, current or voltage and can be adjusted for a 3V, 2V, 1.5V or 1 microcontroller input. 🌟 Speaking of toys, I love all toys. Squeaky ones, bouncy ones, plushy ones. They’re all amazing! I’m really good at fetch, but sometimes I like to tugga too!
🌟 I am really great in the car. I especially like when the windows are down and I can feel the breeze blowing through my fur!
🌟 l like to go for walkies and am learning how to be a good girl on the leash. I mostly just like to smell all the smells!

ADOTTATO Shadow è un bellissimo DRATHAAR, puro e maestoso, giovanissimo (2 anni), di una dolcezza disarmante, affettuosisimo, vivace, socievole, sterilizzato, sano, vaccinato e già registrato con microchip.
E’ sicuramente il cane più sfortunato di cui l’associazione si sia mai occupata, la cui storia sfiora quasi l’incredibile. All’inizio era stato preso come cane da guardia di una villetta ma Shadow non voleva stare tutto il giorno da solo in uno spazio piccolo senza neanche una carezza e così, dato che non riusciva a trattenere la sua vivacità, venne legato su tre gradini nel retro della villetta. Tre gradini e la sua solitudine erano i suoi unici amici, lunghissimi i giorni che Shadow trascorreva a piangere da solo. Poi dopo mesi, il padrone decise di darlo via ma Shadow è un drathaar e così il suo destino era segnato: venne ceduto a un cacciatore che lo chiuse nel capannone della sua fabbrica. La catena non c’era più ma trascorreva tutta la giornata in un corridoio di cemento con una grata di legno come cuccia e sempre nella sua solitudine. Finalmente Shadow ha una piccola fortuna: non sa cacciare e così il nuovo proprietario è disposto a cederlo. Lo abbiamo cosi portato in una pensione, abbiamo scelto per lui una bella struttura con parecchio spazio e qualche amico peloso. E questo è stato possibile grazie all’aiuto di tutti coloro che sostengono la nostra associazione.
Ora shad ha ritrovato serenità, è ingrassato e aspetta da mesi la sua famiglia, la sua occasione. Shadow è un cane dolce, di buonissimo carattere, ha solo bisogno di attenzioni da parte di un padrone che gli offra una situazione stabile e serena che abbia tempo e spazio da dedicargli.
Shadow è in perfetta salute, vaccinato e castrato e provvisto di microchip.
Per adottare è richiesto, come sempre, un controllo pre-affido (una visita a casa dei futuri adottanti), la firma del documento di adozione e la disponibilità a rimanere in contatto dopo l’adozione.

Microchip Technology Inc. today announced the MCP6V2X family of operational amplifiers (op amps). The new devices feature a self-correcting auto-zero architecture, which enables ultra-high precision, including an input offset voltage of just 2 microvolts and a gain bandwidth product of 2 MHz. With low noise of 50 nV/root Hz, the MCP6V2X family is a lower-noise alternative to Microchip’s existing family of auto-zero op amps.
