35mm Kodak Kodachrome slide film scan of Richard McManus racing a hot rod through a lemon grove in La Puente, CA.

This image was taken circa 1948 in La Puente, Ca. One of Richard McManus' closest friends was American off-road racing legend Mickey Thompson*. The two of them spent many hours building hot rods together (including the one in this photo). They would spend hours at the local auto junkyard looking for whatever parts they could find that could be put to use building hot rods. They remained friends all the way up to the time of Mickey's brutal murder in 1988.

*Mickey Thompson set more speed and endurance records than any other man in automotive history.

Legendary racers Don "Snake" Prudhomme and Mickey Thompson face off at the 1976 NHRA Springnationals at National Trails Raceway near Columbus, Ohio. Prudhomme went on to win the Funny Car category an elapsed time of 6.32 seconds.

Taken June, 1976 on Kodak slide film. Scanned Descember, 2013 direct from the slide using Plustek OpticFilm 7600i scanner. I do not recall the camera or settings used.

Back in the nineties, I went to fall Hershey often, and took these few pictures of cars I can't fully identify. I will leave that to my flickr friends to finish the job!

This was a year and half build performed in my garage at home.

This ready-for-anything '76 Chevy Stepside lived a couple of blocks away when I was growing up. I still consider it to be the coolest pickup I've ever seen. It was as loud as it was good-looking.
