It's nice to see California Adventure finally getting into the Halloween Spirit this year. If you get a chance be sure to checkout the Headless Horseman Statue.
I am sure there will be better photos at better angles, but this was the best I could do with Tripods everywhere and security standing right behind me. Hope to get another shot at this before the Headless Horseman rides off into the night.
On Friday the 27th, I joined Charlotte, Terry, Patti & Dan for Mickey's Halloween Party. On the top of my list was Halloween Screams. I know, it's a boring castle shot, but Halloween Screams is a very castle-centric show. Lots of castle flares and castle bursts (as you see here). My hope was to get a front row seat for a nice, low perspective, but we didn't get there early enough. We did, however, manage to grab the first row of standing seats for an unobstructed view.
If you plan on shooting Halloween Screams, I recommend using an ND filter and/or watching the show on youtube so you get a feel for the timing on the ridiculously bright castle flares and the unexpected bursts of FIRE. I don't have an ND filter for the lens I used, so I had to stop WAY down and I still had a ton of blown out shots.
I'd love to go back and see this show again, but unfortunately Disney is only offering Halloween Screams during Mickey's Halloween Party. Maybe next year...
Low capacity and an early closing brought some incredible photo opportunities to those brave enough to travel to Walt Disney World during the pandemic. Getting a Sunset Photo of Cinderella’s Castle in a virtually empty park is something that you don’t see every day and you probably won’t ever see again.
I don't find myself alone with a giant pumpkin very often, but when I do I am usually at Disneyland.

I love the Oogie Boogie \ Halloween layover on the gates to California Adventure, but I must admit the first time I heard him talk I was all alone and he scared the crap out of me.
It's Halloween Time at Disneyland! I had A lot fun at Mickey's Halloween Party!
I took this shot 30 mins after Mickey's Halloween party closes at 11pm. A few seconds after I took shot of the station, the lights turn back on, the Halloween music turn back into Main Street's music and Halloween effects disappear. The party was officially over at 11:30pm on that Night.

There is a special fireworks show every evening during the special event party nights.
The fireworks were great! Disney really put in the effort to make the whole evening special.

I was hoping to get another shot at this one before the Halloween decorations come down but it looks like I am going to have to wait til next year. The good thing is the decorations start going up in September so the wait is really only about 10 months.
My first time on the Disneyland version of the Haunted Mansion & attempting to capture the Hatbox Ghost. I'd never watched any videos as not to spoil the attraction especially with the Nightmare Before Christmas overlay, so he snuck up on me. I used my 35mm 1.8 but definitely feel I should've gone wider. I fired off a bunch of shots in bracket mode in 1 stop increments since I was unsure of what exposure to use due to the changing lighting throughout the attraction. Surprisingly my 1/80th base was the one that was almost spot on. Sadly though I caught the face as it was changing so it's not the cleanest look. Besides that & the composition, I can't really complain for a first time.
Oogie Boogie Man was a nice addition to the Halloween Decorations at Disneyland and Disney's California Adventure last year. So glad they brought him back again this year.
