Laid a whole bunch of Petoskey stones I have around my house on a board and took a picture. Think it would make a great puzzle....
This species was high on the want list for me this trip to the upper peninsula. It can be found in the lower peninsula but not at the sites I visit there. I encountered a bunch of these singing away. The song is so much different than the similar appearing L0uisiana Waterthrush as is the breeding habitat. It was a lot of fun to spend some time with this species.
Another new scan re-do we find a northbound Michigan Northern freight rolling over M-131 just south of Fife Lake, Michigan with RS3 1553 leading RS2 1501. A Michigan Department of Natural Resources truck rolls south with a 2 year old Bi-Centenial license plate up front - November 8, 1978.
I make a mixture of mealworms, peanutbutter and chopped raisins for the bluebirds. Here he is about to get some.
You know I am not a fan of over-saturation so I will tell you that this bright blue is right out of the camera. I guess you could say he is in his breeding colors.

Lake Michigan shoreline close to the town of Empire with the Robert H. Manning Memorial Lighthouse in the distance. Another photograph from my “Missing Michigan” series taken May 2019. Talk about a hidden gem. I can’t get enough of that emerald green water!
It’s a frigid afternoon along the shores of Lake Michigan as CSS&SB No.801 leads a westbound freight through the neighborhood of East 11th Street. 1/22/72

This lighthouse is located at the end of the break wall at McLain State Park, nine miles north of Hancock, Michigan in the Upper Penninsula. The 50' square steel tower was built in 1950. Little commercial traffic passes through the Keweenaw Waterway these days as the modern Great Lakes freighters are too large, but pleasure craft and an occasional excursion vessel still use the historic passage.
How true...
Seen while driving from Plymouth, MI to London, ON on Interstate 94, near exit 240A, north direction.

A fresh market and winery in Michigan. I love Michigan apples, especially Macintosh. My grandfather had an apple tree in his backyard so we had plenty of fresh crisp apples. Good times.
It was worth getting up early to watch the rain race across Lake Michigan.
This is dedicated to all of you who capture these type of images so well and inspire the rest of us.
I like to use f/22 to get as much detail as possible. And, the hummingbirds had already flown so I had time to change the settings. 😉
