St. Michael ist die römisch-katholische Pfarrkirche der Stadt Dormagen.
Die ursprünglich romanische Kirche wurde im 12. Jahrhundert aufgeführt. 1274 wurde sie dem Kölner Andreasstift inkorporiert. Das Langhaus wurde in gotischer Zeit durch einen Neubau ersetzt; der aus Tuffstein gemauerte romanische Turm blieb erhalten. 1887 wurde das gotische Langhaus niedergelegt – sein Grundriss ist im Pflaster markiert – und westlich des Turms ein dreischiffiger neogotischer Neubau von Franz Statz errichtet. Dabei wurde die ursprünglich geostete Kirche nach Westen ausgerichtet. Zusätzlich wurde dem Turm ein viertes Geschoss aufgesetzt.
St. Michael is the Roman Catholic parish church of the city of Dormagen.
The originally Romanesque church was built in the 12th century. In 1274 it was incorporated into the Cologne Andreasstift. The nave was replaced by a new building in the Gothic period; The Romanesque tower made of tuff stone was preserved. In 1887 the Gothic nave was demolished - its floor plan is marked in the pavement - and a three-aisled neo-Gothic new building by Franz Statz was built to the west of the tower. The originally east-facing church was aligned to the west. In addition, a fourth floor was added to the tower.

Michael was the supposedly the first and oldest of the four Archangels created by God, making him the very first angel ever created, as well as one of the oldest and most powerful beings in the whole universe. During the War In Heaven in the distant past, Michael banished Lucifer from Heaven on God's command, albeit assisted by God, later restricting him to a Cage bound by 66 Seals. He was the Viceroy of Heaven in God's absence and commanded the Heavenly Host before he fell into the Cage with Lucifer. As the highest-ranking Archangel, he issued the commands, which went to the higher-ranking angels to disperse the orders down across the celestial chain.
Roman Catholic and Orthodox Christians often refer to the angel Michael as "Saint Michael", an honorific title that does not indicate canonization. He is generally referred to in Christian litanies as "Saint Michael the Archangel." Orthodoxy accords him the title "Archistrategos", or "Supreme Commander of the Heavenly Hosts."

Sunset at St Michaels Mount. A different composition to the standard, mainly due to a clash of tide times.
We took a slow walk along the coast path from Perranuthnoe for the view of St Michaels Mount and were rewarded not with a sunset exactly where I had hoped it would be unfortunately ( have to admit I'm hopeless at using the sunset app on my iphone ) but some wonderful lighting all the same and it was very peaceful. We met a fisherman checking conditions for fishing but he left. Maybe he was going later in the evening as he had no fishing gear with him........
The slightly LE Just done in camera - no NDs just slow enough for what I hoped for to capture the scene as seen.
I did slow the water to a stop in a couple of locations but it’s not my preference tbh….
Milky water is a personal choice and if that’s your preference is absolutely fine by me. I had filters with me, they go everywhere I do but I held off for this shot and this body of water appears as seen through my lens was beautiful and just lazy looking which is exactly how it felt to be here..just a gentle wash in and out as the tide was in and there was no wind. Just a beautiful calm evening…….just for us - or so it felt. Exactly what we needed and sort of ‘special’ if you know what I mean….

Being one of 43 unbridged islands off the coast of the UK access to St Michaels Mount is determined by the tide or the use of a boat. The buildings on the island date back nine hundred years and quite remarkably the same family the Aubyn's, have called the castle home since 1650. The National Trust manages much of the castle these days. If anyone finds themselves down near Penzance I would thoroughly recommend risking a walk across the causeway to visit the castle and island.

It was the first time that these three principalities, forming the territory of present-day Romania and the Republic of Moldova, were ruled by a single Romanian leader. The only word he said to me was his name, yet I feel like he shared so much more with me this day. As I walked through the train station I noticed Michael because the light from the window above seemed to be shinning on him like he was an angel. I stopped in my tracks to look and then I hurried to catch up to my group. I told them I need to go back and talk to a stranger that I saw. They all agreed so I walked back. I was nervous so I took a candid shot from a distance with b&w film in hopes that it would satisfy my inner voice. That was not going to cut it. I couldn't tell if he was a homeless man or a world traveler, waiting for his next adventure. Once I finally got my nerve up, I approached him and told him that I'd like to take his photo. He never said anything but he indicated that it would be OK. When he finally said his name it was in such a soft voice that I had to ask him to repeat it. I took three shots, which is my indicator that I really liked the stranger. As I sat next to him jotting down a few notes a man came up to me and asked where he'd be able to see the photo. I gave him the info and he told me that he sees Michael every day and that he'd love to have a photo of him. You can see more film shots from this day here.

St. Michael's Cave or Old St. Michael's Cave is the name given to a network of limestone caves located within the Upper Rock Nature Reserve in the British Overseas Territory of Gibraltar, at a height of over 300 metres (980 ft) above sea level. According to Alonso Hernández del Portillo, the first historian of Gibraltar, its name is derived from a similar grotto in Monte Gargano near the Sanctuary of Monte Sant'Angelo in Apulia, Italy, where the archangel Michael is said to have appeared.
It is the most visited of the more than 150 caves found inside the Rock of Gibraltar, receiving almost 1,000,000 visitors a year.

I bought Photoshop when I bought my second digital camera in 2006, Nikon D2x and used it only to water mark my photographs on my website.
I believe wildlife and nature photographs which includes people should NOT be photoshopped, because they are created by God, and by making major changes to the image captured by the camera on the computer, the image is no longer a photograph but digital art, and photographers should tell the viewer what major changes were made, or in my case I state what was done to the photographs, only cropped on some.
