When my friend Michael Freethy was over on holidays from America last year we would often go for breakfast to the Sugar Mountain cafe in the beautiful village of Roundwood about 4 miles away from where I live. Within five minutes of leaving my place this is the view from the top of Ballinslaughter Hill. There are about 8 mountains that suddenly appear all along the horizon. This one is Mullaghcleevaun and it has a wonderful corrie loch on top it.

We stopped the car every time and took photos but its tricky as they dont always turn out great. This one is ok and I took it last February. I was up there during the week looking at the view as I never grow tired of it. Its isolation at its finest!

Roundwood is the highest village in Ireland at 238m above sea level. To qualify as the highest village it must have a post office and Roundwood does. A very quaint one. Mike posted some cards home from it. I wonder did they ever arrive?

Id always think to myself that we would only be about an hour in the Cafe but it never worked out like that as that place somehow just gets to you and we would end up chatting and looking out the window at the beautiful place that it is, and eating apple pie and drinking gallons of tea on top of a fry up till we were stuffed!

You cant buy that really. I wonder how many people have a view like this to look at when they are going to the cafe for breafast! Im lucky and I know it! Lets hope it all opens up again soon!

Michael hasnt climbed this mountain yet but hoperully we will when he makes it over. Fingers crossed.

And the title? Its nothing to do with Breakfast kind of, but is the rhythm that the traditional Irish Reel that is played in 4/4 time.

Anyway, I hope you like the photo as its one of my favourite views and heres the Corrs " making more noise than a bag of spanners " [Terry Wogan ] live at the Aviva Stadium, Dublin. Poor Jim Corr! Bet all the men in the audience come to see him!!!!!!! Right!!! Lol! They are all very talented and they nice normal people with it too! I think they are amazing!

Lying off the Cornish Coast on the south west of England is Saint Michaels Mount. Indeed every once in a while I do like to get out of Scotland to visit other places.

This is the beautiful church of Kallmünz, a picturesque small village situated in the Naab valley north to Regensburg, Bavaria, very close to where I live.

I have posted an interior pano of this church before. See below in the comments. This image has been created from the exact same set of individual captures but using a totally different projection*.

Multi-row panorama (stitched from 6 individual HDR images) covering a viewing angle of 240°H x 160°V.

* Explanation: A panorama is a flat representation of the scene around the camera. Essentially, a 3D world is projected on a flat surface. There are multiple ways to do this (panoramic projections). There is no perfect panoramic projection; each projection has its own properties and limitations.

A 16th century Jesuit Catholic Church in Munich, Bavaria. It is, apparently, the largest Renaissance church plus the first to be built north of the Alps. It has a relatively nondescript frontage in the main pedestrianised street but is wonderful once inside.

St. Michael is the Roman Catholic parish church of the city of Dormagen.

The originally Romanesque church was built in the 12th century. In 1274 it was incorporated into the Cologne Andreasstift. The nave was replaced by a new building in the Gothic period; The Romanesque tower made of tuff stone was preserved. In 1887 the Gothic nave was demolished - its floor plan is marked in the pavement - and a three-aisled neo-Gothic new building by Franz Statz was built to the west of the tower. The originally east-facing church was aligned to the west. In addition, a fourth floor was added to the tower.

Saint Michael the Archangel is one of four archangels and the main conqueror of the devil. Fragment of an icon in the iconostasis of the St. George Cathedral of the Vydubitsky Monastery.

Michael was the supposedly the first and oldest of the four Archangels created by God, making him the very first angel ever created, as well as one of the oldest and most powerful beings in the whole universe. During the War In Heaven in the distant past, Michael banished Lucifer from Heaven on God's command, albeit assisted by God, later restricting him to a Cage bound by 66 Seals. He was the Viceroy of Heaven in God's absence and commanded the Heavenly Host before he fell into the Cage with Lucifer. As the highest-ranking Archangel, he issued the commands, which went to the higher-ranking angels to disperse the orders down across the celestial chain.

Roman Catholic and Orthodox Christians often refer to the angel Michael as "Saint Michael", an honorific title that does not indicate canonization. He is generally referred to in Christian litanies as "Saint Michael the Archangel." Orthodoxy accords him the title "Archistrategos", or "Supreme Commander of the Heavenly Hosts."

Архангел Михаил — главный архангел, являющийся одним из самых почитаемых Архангелов в авраамических религиях. В православии его называют Архистратигом, что означает глава святого воинства Ангелов и Архангелов.

Michael Raedecker willingly agreed to pose with this dramatic representation of a trapped swan. Talking about his work, meant talking about the how. Not about the meaning. "I leave that to the viewer," he told me in several ways. So, what to make of this? Please tell me your ideas...

More about his special technique in my review (included in the next image).

Maybe you recognize this from the Star Wars movies?

St Michael & All Angels Church stands high looking out over the village of Hawkshead, and having fine views to Esthwaite Water, Claife Heights, Latterbarrow, Helvellyn and the Langdales. William Wordsworth, who went to school in Hawkshead, liked to sit at the top of the churchyard.

The Church is thought to have been built in 1500, the oldest part being the tower which has eight bells. The interior is surprisingly large, and has many interesting features. The nave is 70 feet long, with north and south isles, and the huge pillars support large round arches which are decoratively painted.

In the churchyard is the tall and beautiful War memorial, erected in 1919, and designed by W.G. Collingwood. He based the design on the ancient runic cross of about 1000 A.D. at Gosforth.

As a teenager in boarding school, one of my schoolgirl crushes was Dex

Life was a always more fun when you were around and you will be hugely missed. Deepest condolences to jodi and Lindsay...

St. Michael's Cave or Old St. Michael's Cave is the name given to a network of limestone caves located within the Upper Rock Nature Reserve in the British Overseas Territory of Gibraltar, at a height of over 300 metres (980 ft) above sea level. According to Alonso Hernández del Portillo, the first historian of Gibraltar, its name is derived from a similar grotto in Monte Gargano near the Sanctuary of Monte Sant'Angelo in Apulia, Italy, where the archangel Michael is said to have appeared.

It is the most visited of the more than 150 caves found inside the Rock of Gibraltar, receiving almost 1,000,000 visitors a year.

I usually like to shoot into the sunset to catch the bright glow of the sun and the reflected colour on the water and rocks in the foreground. However, when I was shooting St Michaels mount one evening in August the light behind the mount was so nice I just had to grab an image or two.

This was shot in the gardens behind St Michaels Mount. I’d spotted the crystal clear turquoise sea from the terrace and just had to get down to the waters edge. I knew that the movement in the waves would add some contrast and drama to the backdrop of the dominant castle.

note: i've had some techinical questions about this image that need some clrification.

I used an nd-graduated filter doubled up with a nd 8 and a polarizer to get the colours and to deal with the reflections and to get the movement. Also for double safety I bracketed it and filled in any burned out areas.... I personally feel it needs just a bit more dodge and burn but I didn’t want to over work it. And I need some time to reflect on this.
