CSX Q694 breaks the quiet of the night as it heads north through Elkhorn City, Kentucky and past the Clinchfield signals at North Elkhorn. This was once the location where the C&O and the Clinchfield met, and now marks the split from the CSX Big Sandy Sub to the CSX Kingsport Sub.

After sitting in the hole at Tacheeda for a local and a coal train from the Tumbler, 473 meets their final train of the day that being the counterpart manifest train 472. This was the location where CN swapped diesels for the BCRail electrics for the journey to Tumbler Ridge, hence the overhead catenary. I calculated how long 472 would take to get to the siding on the way here, I was 2 minutes off.
De 2e interessante trein van de avond betrof er een van Kombirail.
Op de foto passeert de Kombirail 186 102 Willemsdorp als deze onderweg is met een fraai beladen Duisburg shuttle onder nummer 41772 vanuit Duisburg Ruhrort Hafen richting Kijfhoek en uiteindelijk de Waalhaven.

A surprise baretable ILTSMR negotiates the S curve just before the community of Metz, 6877 leading. With a Santa Margarita local opposing, and many sidings already stuffed with wellcars, this train passed us with about 10 minutes to spare. Ten minutes until the shadows from the Santa Lucia mountains consumed all the light, thus, the passing train was illuminated with a lovely golden glow. Shortly after, this train would meet 14 in King City.
