Artistic framing of a textured and light-colored stone wall constructed with large rectangular blocks with two ornate metal rings against a backdrop of vibrant green and yellow tree.
Rustication is a range of masonry techniques used in classical architecture giving visible surfaces a finish texture that contrasts with smooth, squared-block masonry called ashlar. The visible face of each individual block is cut back around the edges to make its size and placing very clear.
This technique emphasizes the individual stones and their joints, creating a visually striking effect and often used to give a sense of strength and solidity, particularly to the lower levels of a building.

I may not be able to post all that often for awhile due to health.
I will visit as I can - it will be slow going most likely:)
Take care

Album Description – Mainz, Germany – 2016APR07
Super layover, transatlantic round trip, crew, and weather!
After Dori and Siggi drove me back to the crew hotel from our afternoon excursion to Idstein, I strolled the Rhine Promenade a couple hours, to the rail bridge and back, enjoying the river walk and sunset colors. April 7 was one magnificent day in Germany!
Plus, of course work the flights = ½ day outbound, ½ day inbound; leaving late afternoon April 6, home early afternoon April 8, our initial takeoff 1624, return touchdown 1259 = 44 hours 35 minutes, back home 48 hours from when I walked out the door!
The best of 524 photos from this 1-day layover are a 3-album set:
• Mainz, Germany – 2016APR07
• Idstein, Germany – 2016APR07
• Idstein Limes Tower, Germany – 2016APR07
Hope you enjoy my favorite 20% of today's 125 Mainz photos!
