This is the "memory" wall! The photos that are framed and hang on our walls are generally speaking fairly up to date, however, my wife does like what she calls a memory wall which has a few older photos that have great memories for us all!

Deaigned and developed at Refik Anadol Studio

From February 7 through March 17, 2018, Pilevneli Gallery presented Refik Anadol’s latest project on the materiality of remembering. Melting Memories offered new insights into the representational possibilities emerging from the intersection of advanced technology and contemporary art. By showcasing several interdisciplinary projects that translate the elusive process of memory retrieval into data collections, the exhibition immersed visitors in Anadol’s creative vision of “recollection.”

“Science states meanings; art expresses them,” writes American philosopher John Dewey and draws a curious distinction between what he sees as the principal modes of communication in both disciplines. In Melting Memories, Refik Anadol’s expressive statements provide the viewer with revealing and contemplative artworks that will generate responses to Dewey’s thesis.

Comprising data paintings, augmented data sculptures and light projections, the project as a whole debuts new advances in technology that enable visitors to experience aesthetic interpretations of motor movements inside a human brain. Each work grows out of the artist’s impressive experiments with the advanced technology tools provided by the Neuroscape Laboratory at the University of California, San Francisco. Neuroscape is a neuroscience center focusing on technology creation and scientific research on brain function of both healthy and impaired individuals. Anadol gathers data on the neural mechanisms of cognitive control from an EEG (electroencephalogram) that measures changes in brain wave activity and provides evidence of how the brain functions over time. These data sets constitute the building blocks for the unique algorithms that the artist needs for the multi-dimensional visual structures on display.

Anadol’s installations do not only address a productive espousal of cutting-edge technology and art but also a strong preoccupation with the study of human memory from Ancient Egyptians to Blade Runner 2049. The exhibition’s title, Melting Memories, refers to the artist’s experience with unexpected interconnections among seminal philosophical works, academic inquiries and artworks that take memory as their principal themes. The title further draws attention to the melting of neuroscience and technology into these centuries-long philosophical debates, questioning the emergence of a new space where artificial intelligence is not in conflict with individuality and intimacy.

My Dad took this photo when i was 4 yrs old.My Dad is also a very good photographer.

Remember the photo of my old chucks? Well, a few weeks back, the original shoelaces that came with them broke while I was walking in downtown Fort Worth. So after I replaced the laces today, I made a little something out of the old ones. They've been a lot of places with me. I know they're just shoelaces, but I always find meaning in the smallest things.

My second version of this picture.

I must say I prefer this one!

Tui mún xóa cái nick yahoo of khỏi list of tui, xóa sdt mẹ bạn, 3 bạn và bạn khỏi dt tui. Nhưng tui lm` k dc. Tui vẫn lưu nick bạn trong list tui và trong group of tui là “ you’re mine :*:*:* ”, rồi sdt of bạn trog dt tui thì “ mah love :*** ”, rồi còn những tin nhắn ngọt ngào đối với tui nữa chứ. Tui mún Đì – le – te chúg ra khỏi pộ não of tui. Nhưng k đc :((. Bạn đã bh hỉu đc cái c.jác of c.Trân nài chưa hủh bạn Đức?

Dù jì tui vẫn THƯƠNG bạn, ĐỢI bạn, NHỚ bạn. Mãi yêu bạn.

I love you. I love your name. I love your smile. I love your eyes. I love everything belong to you. Love you so.

The holidays often bring up memories of family and friends who are no longer with us. Sadly, another has been added to the list. My Uncle Bob died yesterday after a long illness. My thoughts are with my cousins who lost their father and my Dad and Uncle Roger who lost their big brother.

Memories. 52 in 2013

On way to photograph a Lighthouse, being in a van these caught my eye through some trees. So legged it back and got a few shots.

Wine fits the theme and can hit all categories. Taken for the Macro Mondays group theme of “obsession, passion, and addiction.”

I first bought a copy of 'Western Memories' back in 1977 when it came out, it was subsequently lost in a house move much later but I picked up another copy on ebay, equally as tatty as the first but much loved all the same.

The 'Western China Clay' ran on a freezing cold 4th December 1976 from Paddington to Cornwall and back, one of the best railtours ever run as many hydraulic fans will probably agree. The locos involved were D1023 Western Fusilier and D1056 Western Sultan, and 10 days after working the tour D1056 was withdrawn.

In my neighborhood there used to be a huge factory belonging to OM, a very old truck company (founded 1917). Milan is an industrial city, and OM is very much a part of the history of the city, and the factory has been a landmark of this part of the city.

The factory shut down at some point, and was a ruin for a long time. A few years ago the whole area was demolished and a big renovation project was created; housing and office blocks were built, with green spaces and all that.

A large part of that area has been dedicated to three parks. One of them is very appropriately known as "Industrial Memories Park" and is dedicated to the memory of the man and women that have worked in this area.

They kept some machinery from the old factory and build a garden in and on and around the. From an industrial world a new world is born where iron tools mingle with nature in a new embrace.

The Hall of Memory

The Hall of Memory in Centenary Square, Birmingham, England, designed by S. N. Cooke and W. N. Twist, is a war memorial erected 1922–25, by John Barnsley and Son, to commemorate the 12,320 Birmingham citizens who died in World War I.

Built directly over a filled-in canal basin of Gibson's Arm, it was the first structure in an area (now occupied by Centenary Square and the International Convention Centre and Symphony Hall) purchased by the council for the creation of a grand civic scheme to include new council offices, the mayor's residence, a public library, and a concert hall. The scheme was abandoned after the arrival of World War II with only half of the planned Baskerville House having been built.

Made from Portland stone, from the Isle of Portland in Dorset, the foundation stone was laid by HRH The Prince of Wales on 12 June 1923 and it was opened by Prince Arthur of Connaught on 4 July 1925 to a crowd of 30,000. Construction had cost £60,000 and was funded through public donations. The four statues around the exterior are by local artist Albert Toft. They represent the Army, the Navy, the Air Force, and Women's Services.

The interior features three carved bas-relief plaques (155 cm x 223 cm) by William Bloye representing three tableaux: Call (departure to war), Front Line (fighting), Return (arrival home of the wounded). These bear inscriptions:

OF 150,000 WHO ANSWERED THE CALL TO ARMS 12,320 FELL: 35,000 CAME HOME DISABLED

AT THE GOING DOWN OF THE SUN IN THE MORNING WE WILL REMEMBER THEM

SEE TO IT THAT THEY SHALL NOT HAVE SUFFERED AND DIED IN VAIN +*+

There is also a roll of honour illustrated by Sidney Meteyard.

The hall was upgraded on 27 October 2014 to a Grade I listed building from its previous Grade II.

The colonnade, now in St. Thomas' Peace Garden

During the Birmingham Blitz, on the night of 11 December 1940, all but the fine tower and classical west portico of St. Thomas' Church, Bath Row, was destroyed by German bombs. The church was never rebuilt. The First World War Memorial colonnade, which had been built alongside the Hall of Memory in 1925, was relocated there when Centenary Square was laid out 1989. The gardens were re-designed as the St. Thomas' Peace Garden in 1995 in commermoration of the fiftieth anniversary of the end of World War II, as a monument to peace, and as a memorial to all those killed in armed conflict.

The early '80s were an interesting time for NJ Transit. When the company officially took over operations of the states passenger rail services in 1983 there was a wide variety of motive power and rolling stock of various heritage. ex-Southern E8s, ex-GN coaches, ex-CNJ GP40s, ex-EL U34s, ex-PC and DLW MUs and more!

As time went by much of this older equipment was phased out in favor of new ALP44 electrics, GP40PH-2 rebuilds, Arrow II and III MUs and a large order of Comet II coaches. While most of the equipment that was replaced was disposed of (by scrap or sale), some of it was saved and donated to the URHS for inclusion in a state transportation museum.

Here we see two retired NJ Transit locomotives coupled together at Morristown Yard. The former NYC/PC E8A has since been relocated to the URHS Boonton Yard facility where it has been cosmetically restored. The E60 also found its way to Boonton but it awaits it's shot at restoration.

Mr. Turtle has a story to tell! Below the sea... think of all of the items.. that once were special to someone. Perhaps an earring lost when swimming on a late summer afternoon. Perhaps a nail from a sunken ship... or a coin fallen from the pocket of a man who jumped over the side of a boat to save a child. Or even... a jewel tossed from cruise ship after a lover's spat!

One never knows... what treasures are buried in the sand for only the sea creatures to find!

...memory is what makes our lives. Life without memory is no life at all... . Our memory is our coherence, our reason, our feeling, even our action. Without it, we are nothing. (luis bunuel)

A friend of mine's son is turning 18 years old next week, and so she asked if I would make a memory book for him from her. I am always delighted when people like what I do so of course I said yes! (My second commissioned memory book... woohoo!)

This is how the book turned out. I showed it to her tonight and she promptly burst into tears..... of joy, not disappointment I am glad to say ;)

It's always nerve racking when you make something for someone else.. will they like it or won't they... but so far, I have a 100% sucess rate... *smiles widely*

Have a good week ahead.

during Christmas I miss my grandmother more than usual - but I have so many sweet memories of her that can make me happy - so - like my grandfather, I close my eyes and she is there - forever alive.
