Yet another update: This image has been picked by the judges in the Outdoor photographer of the year 2016 comp to appear in their latest OPOTY portfolio 2 book. I'm a very happy chappy

I apologise for the re-post, but I thought I would share the news that this image has been deemed one of the top UK shots uploaded to Flickr this year. Thank you to all of my friends for your support

Also congratulations to a few of my Flickr contacts who also made the list, both Worldwide and UK based...

Jerry Fryer, Steve Garrington, Paul(Shutterbug), Brad Eide.

I know for sure there are more stunning images than mine of Britain and many from most of my flickr contacts, but I'm not going to shy away from sharing a moment.

I've worked in a few kitchens in my lifetime. Or, should I say in another lifetime? To this day, I still get a kick out of poking my head into a restaurant kitchen, greeting the chefs and cooks, and snapping a photo or two as they work. I captured this image in the kitchen of the Copper Chimney in Mumbai, India. And, yes, the food was delicious and memorable! [Flickr Explore #81, August 3, 2021.]

My 2nd son knew how much I wanted to see Bryce Canyon . He has been out of the country for 2 years , and flew me to Las Vegas to meet him and to hike the canyons and parks of Utah, an amazing memorable best gift...My husband held down the fort at home

This is the Leeds University Multi-Storey Car Park.

Opened in 2016 for £10.5 million. 690 spaces on 10 levels. Designed by CJCT Architects and shortlisted for an RICS award. Cladding is Kirkstone perforated aluminium panels, which are also illuminated at night.

It's a remarkable and attractive design that deserves a more memorable name.

A memorable sighting from this time two years ago.

From Audubon: This regal bird is the largest of our soaring Buteo hawks, a fitting raptor for the wide skies and windswept plains of the west. It soars with its broad wings held in a shallow V, and swoops down to catch ground squirrels, snakes, young jackrabbits, and other good-sized prey. It is often seen sitting on the ground in open fields. Except when nesting, the Ferruginous Hawk seems curiously unafraid of humans, often allowing close approach.

Memorable experience at the Safari Resort, Maldives

One of the highlights of my visit to Arches National Park was my visit to this arch at night. Not only for the fantastic sky and the resulting photo opportunities, but also for the experience of wandering off the trail and getting lost on my way back to the parking lot (actually, I guess the latter is a lowlight, if there is such a thing)! The large slickrock areas make the trail very difficult to follow at night, especially since I did not see any rock cairns. On top of that, my cell phone was not getting a GPS signal and my All Trails app was not working. Oh well, I'll just have to figure out a better approach next time. I wouldn't want to miss another nighttime trip to this arch.

The Crazy Tuesday theme for 1/17 is measuring and/or measuring instruments. A gazillion years ago I used to videotape memorable events and I designed a business card with this teddy logo. Found a place online that would turn designs into watches- cool huh?

Last in the series of reclaimed, reprocessed images from lesser digital cameras of the recent past. A Great Horned Owl family occupied this storage shed for years. I received permission from the landowner to walk onto his property and photograph them. They were gorgeous, and about as habituated to humans as owls get. They watched me carefully but didn't freak out; I kept my visit brief and came away with some memorable shots.

I'm heading out of town for the next two days, should be back posting and commenting again on Friday.

A morning view across Swiftcurrent Lake in Glacier National Park. This was taken about a year ago on a memorable trip where my wife and I celebrated our 30th anniversary.

Yellowstone's Norris Geyser Basin is the hottest spot in the park, closest to the hot magma not far below. Pictured here is the Colloidal Pool in the Porcelain Basin of this large geothermal wonder.

Quite the memorable experience walking thru here with all the geysers, boiling pools and fumaroles belching sulphuric steam. I found it a bit eerie, yet can't wait to return.....

Thanks for your visit. Always appreciated.

Enjoy a wonderful weekend!

I miss the colors and energy, the sense that the unexpected can happen. I miss the way the French quarter has a certain style and color to the architecture. I miss the haunted houses and cemeteries, the spooky voodoo even though I don't practice or ever intend to. I miss the random street cat and the way each moment seems like it contains multitudes. I miss the idea of being able to go to a place like that and have a real memorable experience.

First light on some of the Ten Peaks reflected in Moraine Lake. My soul was singing as I experienced this memorable morning. The air was crisp and chilly, all was quiet (the buses hadn't arrived yet; had it to myself) and the show was amazing. Still smiling from this special dawn.

A couple more shots from this lovely dawn in comments:

Have a wonderful Friday and weekend!

A memorable experience watching these majestic owls hunting the fields for voles and showing their aerial maneuvers. Taken in March of 2017 when we were fortunate enough to have a number of Great Gray Owls visit our area.

Thank you for viewing

This was from back in 2011 and one of my most memorable experiences with a Snowy Owl.

There were several other images to this sequence but they overlapped and I couldn't stitch them into the sequence.

Hope everyone's enjoying this mild winter so far here in the Northeast.

During a trip to Hawaii, my husband and I stayed in a private home on the property that also housed a parrot sanctuary. The owners of the property invited us inside the large aviaries to meet their feathered friends. This gorgeous bird was one of my favorites. His original owners had brought him to the sanctuary as he was much too loud to live in the small apartment with his owners. During our visit he was quietly investigating the metal bar of the aviary and seemed oblivious to us.

It is usually this time of year that we head on up to Mannum on the Murray River for a holiday. Unlikely to happen this year, so I couldn't resist a trip back through the archives for some of my favourite sunrise moments. This was always the best way to start every day up there. Up early, a mug of hot coffee, and sit quietly on the deck, just me and the birds all slowly coming to life.

The RV 252 Tyin, Innlandet is not a long road, but it took me a few hours to get to Eidsbugarden. The views over there were to blame;-)

Lake Tyin is wonderful. Even on a cloudy day:-)

...one of our most memorable trips!

While wandering through the gardens outside our lodgings in Hawaii, I was drawn to a plant featuring brightly colored flowers.

When focusing on an individual blossom, I realized a small face was looking at me. Egads!

Today was Martin Luther King jr. Day and public offices were closed and the LBJ Library was free. So, I took my meetup group there and we toured the place. It's a massive building with lots of memorable things inside. Kinda like taking a walk back in time. Here's more info on LBJ

ohnson was strongly supported by the Democratic Party, and as President designed the "Great Society" legislation upholding civil rights, public broadcasting, Medicare, Medicaid, aid to education, the arts, urban and rural development, public services, and his "War on Poverty". Assisted in part by a growing economy, the War on Poverty helped millions of Americans rise above the poverty line during Johnson's presidency.[2] Civil rights bills signed by Johnson banned racial discrimination in public facilities, interstate commerce, the workplace, and housing; and the Voting Rights Act banned certain requirements in southern states used to disenfranchise African Americans. With the passage of the Immigration and Nationality Act of 1965, the country's immigration system was reformed and all national origin quotas were removed. Johnson was renowned for his domineering, sometimes abrasive, personality and the "Johnson treatment"—his aggressive coercion of powerful politicians to advance legislation.

One of the most memorable dawn and sunrises I have ever seen

at Lindisfarne on our recent photography break in Northumberland...it just gave and gave.

Worth the very early start to witness.

You were waiting for Monday to arrive, you didn't like Sundays.

It was your ritual, you got up early and had breakfast. Then you would prepare the mate and bring it to me in bed.

You would sit at your desk and upload the photo to Flickr. You were happy, your day began with what you enjoyed so much.

I know you really liked this photo. I remember that day very well, - Amalita turned out great on you!!! -you told me

For you Danielito ❤️

Epecuen a place where you were so caught up in photography.

You felt identified with the sadness of the place and at the same time the beauty that it radiated. So many photos in your gallery prove it.

All friends will continue visiting your gallery, remembering and missing your friendship and generosity.

You will find your inner world reflected in the spectacular photographs, your passion for the mountains, the beauty that you managed to capture in each place and a range of colors with the unmistakable seal of the house. With Pontinian seal! -as I always told you. Unique and unrepeatable!

For many, 2020 signifies a year to forget. On the Metro-North roster, 2020 was a memorable unit, the FL9 with the gold patina on its nose. Here it's mated to sister unit 2007 with northbound train 845 at Breakneck Ridge, a location just north of Cold Spring that's memorable in its own right and never seems to get old, in this case at 6:10 pm on 18 June 1987.
