“E quando addentate una mela, ditele nel vostro cuore: 'I tuoi semi vivranno nel mio corpo, E i tuoi germogli futuri sbocceranno nel mio cuore, La loro fragranza sarà il mio respiro, E insieme gioiremo in tutte le stagioni'.”

If you look carefully you will see a beetle carrying something back to the mossy mound towards the front Badger from the bottom of the frame and freezes when it sees the Badgers. (It is about 13 seconds in)
Although the bulk of their diet is made up of earthworms, they also eat slugs and insects and have a keen sense of smell and sharp claws that can root up grubs from under the soil surface.

Badger taken at the RSPB Hawswater hide.
Okay - quick review of the hide.
It is beautifully built but probably not by a photographer. Two slots at the badger's ground level but only one is big enough to get a 150-600mm lens through.
The glass is single pane thickness so I took photos through it.
I had to use a tripod.
There were just two of us using the hide so I had room, more than two people would have been a problem.
The flood lights flicker which does affect the photo's.
Badgers are very close you could get good close ups with a 70-200 lens.
There are masses of Rats (inevitably) and this badger came running in, rooted around and ran off with a rat, they are very fast animals and I missed that shot.
Hope this helps
