The blackbuck, (Antilope cervicapra) also known as the Indian antelope, is an antelope commonly found in India. The blackbuck is the sole extant member of the genus Antilope. This shot was taken in Velavadar, Gujarat. My blog on Velavadar can be seen at jagadipsingh.blogspot.in
The white blackbuck here is either albino or leukistic. Albinism in Blackbucks is rare and caused by the lack of 'Melanin'. The animal looks fully white due to the lack of melanin in their skin. Wildlife experts say that the biggest problem with these Albinos is that they are singled out by predators and hunted. These are Albinos.
Leucism is a condition characterized by reduced pigmentation in animals and humans. Unlike albinism, it is caused by a reduction in all types of skin pigment, not just melanin.
Melanistic leopards (very dark brown) are commonly called black panthers. However, there is no such animal. The dark color, called melansim, is due to a recessive gene. Melanistic cubs can be born to spotted parent

This Southern Toad has some interesting, and very symmetrical melanin (and lack thereof) pigment. I just built a new pond in my backyard in Gainesville, Florida, and the second night after putting it in the ground and filling it with water this toad leapt in. I saw it floating in the water from my office window and immediately thought that a frog had died overnight because all I saw was pink legs (yes I do have egress options and exposed items for animals to escape or stay out of the water). I went outside with my skimmer net and when I approached, this toad dove to the bottom. I was perplexed and silent at first, but soon realized what I was looking at and several unbridled expletives slipped from my mouth loud enough my neighbors probably heard. I have never seen a toad like this anywhere and may never again.
