This is the finished project. It is a bean bag tray that I will be using for brides and private clients.
I decorated this piece with henna designs using fresh henna paste, and then I sealed it with a satin varnish.
she was a client i used to go see every two weeks while she was going through chemotherapy. having henna made her feel more comfortable and daring(?) to go out in public without her wig. she enjoyed getting many compliments on henna. she trusted me every time and loved everything i did, it was just such a pleasure to go see her every two weeks, www.akiyohenna.com

Had a great opportunity to do wedding photography shoot for this beautiful couple. I was more lucky bcoz, the wedding was in both north and south indian style. Covered many events including haldi, mehandi, engagement, reception,sangeeth,backstage, muhurtham & reception.

i love the central pattern (an adaptation of a design by lezard cheung) cos it's so simple and beautiful!
6 Tier square wedding cake with Turquoise blue spray and chocolate mehandi decorated. Orange lily was arranged around for looks. The Video is taken at the venue of the function and the lighting effect adds to the cake decor.

Mehndi is the application of henna as a temporary form of skin decoration in India, Pakistan and Bangladesh as well as by expatriate communities from those countries. The word mehndi is derived from the Sanskrit word mendhikā.The use of mehndi and turmeric is described in the earliest Vedic ritual books. Haldi(Staining oneself with turmeric paste) as well as mehndi are important Vedic customs as a symbolic representation of the Outer and the Inner Sun. Vedic customs are meant to awaken the "inner light" and so the gold of the inner Sun has an important symbolic function.
