ZK-NZI Air New Zealand Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner crosses the disk of the Sun over Brisbane Australia, Sunspot Active Region AR2680 is visible in the middle of the Sun’s disk just below the right engine of the aircraft.
It is a very rare opportunity to capture a Boeing 787 Solar transit, at a high altitude and especially without contrails to help spot the location, the aircraft becomes near invisible due to the glare as it approaches the Sun and one simply keeps their fingers crossed while hoping with all the gear set up and focused that a transit will occur. On 16 September 2017 it all came together for me and did just that!
