My next camera, acquired in the January sales 2011 was the K7. At £695 it was the most expensive camera I'd ever bought, but when fitted with a DA* lens it was worth every penny. Compared with my first, 2.1 megapixel digital camera of only 9 years ago, the 14 megapixel APS-C sensor in this beast is from another planet, although compared with some current Pro cameras that's now quite small also. I treated it to an 8GB Class 10 SanDisk Extreeme SD card (£15 from Amazon) which improved the smoothness of the video capture considerably.

When 14 megapixels doesn't mean much...
It'll be hard to see at clearly in the small views here, but you can see the very "muddy" details in the brick above and around the Welcome Home Interiors sign and the Sud's sign when viewing the larger versions.
I don't think its the lens (though it is pretty well centered area) because I don't see it in every test photo. I don't think it's JPG compression issue, either. I think its from a sensor crammed with teeny, tiny photon counters (pixels) on an equally teeny, tiny CCD chip. Noise in the machine?
I'd told myself the next time a decent P&S goes on sale for under $70 I'd get one as a pocket camera. The little Fuji did, so I did it. This is probably not a bad result for a P&S camera on sale for $59 w/ 4GB card and case. However, going from a 10mp DSLR to a 14mp P&S and seeing this result was - to me - quite a shock. (In fact, this muddiness reminds me the results from my first 2001 vintage HP C200 camera, though on a much smaller scale.)

I am terribly late about doing this meme but better late than never, right? ;-)
01. My first digital camera was a 1.2 megapixel Sony that used floppy disks to store the photos . . . talk about slooooow!
02. I hate most pictures of me but this is one of the few exceptions.
03. My favorite photos to take are landscapes. I hate taking photos of people because I am terrible about telling the subject how to pose. I guess I can't be a professional photog, eh?
04. I shoot predominately with a digital camera but I do own two film cameras - the Holga and Supersampler. I really want a Horizon camera but it's a bit out of my price range.
05. I have no idea what I want to be when I grow up. I'm currently majoring in business but I'm pretty sure in the fall I'm switching back to a computer related degree. I wish I wasn't so indecisive, fortunately, I'm not too far into my business degree that it doesn't really matter.
06. Three things I can't live without: Fresh air, my camera, and my *wonderful* friends.
07. In case you haven't read my blog lately I am going on a road trip in May from Kentucky to Seattle. I'm equally excited and nervous about this. If you know of anyone in the following states who would be willing to put up 3 girls for the night (no funny business!) in Idaho, South Dakota, or Montana please let me know. I'm trying to cut costs and not spend excess money for hotels the nights we're traveling. I'm probably going to regret putting this up here. LOL.
08. I've never had chicken pox . . . seriously!
09. I probably spend more time on flickr in a day than I do on homework for an entire week. I don't spend a great deal of time on the site, it simply means I don't put a lot of effort into homework but I get by! ;-P
10. I am closer with family members who live across the country, or in another country, than the ones I live with.
11. My perfect day is spent in Louisville taking photos with friends. Needless to say, yesterday was a good day even if I didn't take that many photos.
12. My favorite album of all-time would probably be "Awake is the New Sleep" by Ben Lee.
13. I have a couple scars on my right knee from a bike wreck when I was about 9 or 10. I probably should have had stitches but when you don't have health insurance you take what you can get. My mom put some ointment on it and put a gauze pad over it. I hated having to change the gauze on it because every time the gauze would stick to my skin (!!) Ouuch! It took about 2 months to heal up correctly and then I fell down in P.E. not longer after it "healed" only to open the wound back up. Talk about bad luck!
14. I have been single since '06 and plan to stay that way for as long as I can. It's more out of selfish reasons than anything else. ;-D
15. If I knew I would get a good amount of my money back that I put in my Canon equipment I would switch to Nikon because of their CLS system.
16. I have failed at project 365 for two years straight and I think I'm just about done with this years attempt . . . 30-something days into it. Heh. Too much is going on but I'll be posting on a pretty regular basis.

Hopefully you've learned something new about me, if you happen to know all of this information you might be spending too much time with me . . . but that's OK!

This is a 1 megapixel snapshot (with a cluttered background) that I have uploaded for a discussion on the DFC group.
2 cropped and cleaned-up much-improved versions are already in my Photostream, one of which is the very first photo I ever uploaded to Flickr.
3 megapixel camera introduced in Feb 2003.
Interesting design and form factor.
Euro 450,- selling price. It received only mediocre ratings.
