Featured is upper Manhattan, Central Park and New Jersey, photographed from the Top Of The Rock, just minutes after the rain.
I caught a sliver of bright light cutting through the clouds, illuminating George Washington bridge and a strip of buildings on its both ends. It was a perfect cityscape photography moment!
This 91.5 Megapixel panorama was stitched from 4 horizontal frames, each one was combined from 5 separate bracketed exposures.
Shot with Canon 5dmk3 and Canon 70-300 mm lens. I used Promote Remote Control for exposure bracketing. Processed with Lightroom 4.1, Photoshop 5.1, Photoshop CC and Silver Efex Pro 2

Spring in the Malibu Canyons! Nikon D800E Dr. Elliot McGucken Fine Art Photography for Los Angeles HDR Gallery Show!
Yet more photos and more final edits! I was up at 4:30 AM the past four days shooting sunrises! Awesome sunrises over Point Dume thie time of year in Malibu.
Then I spent all day today moving over 75 large photos into the gallery! Most of these are framed and matted with 13"x19" metallic prints and an 18"x24" mat and a 3" wood-grain black frame! They look awesome! Stop on by Bel Air Camera's Gallery downstairs if you are close to UCLA or in Westwood. Give me a head's up, and I will meet you there if I'm free.
I thought I was done a couple days ago for December's LA Gallery show, but art is never done until it's done, and even then. . . Will be busy printing and framing in nice large, matted formats and frames and museum glass! Five of these photos will be printed on 40" x 60" floating wall mounted metal sheets! I think I know which--will share photos of the photos hanging on the walls!
And I am mounting some on plexiglass/acryllic--front mounting them! Some I am printing on lossy fuji-crystal archival paper too, and then front mounting 40"x60" versions to plexiglass--will send photos!
The secret to HDR photography is that you want people to say, "Woe dude--that's unreal!" And not, "Dude--that's not real!" "Unreal" is the word they use when they're trying to figure out the photo--what makes it cool--is it a photo? Is it painted? How'd it come to be--how'd you bend the light that way? "That's not real," is what they say if you have the saturation/HDR/ etc. turned up too high. :)

A composite of 40 images at 10.1 megapixels to create an 80.4 megapixel image. I made this to show that images with large resolutions can be made from a camera with a smaller fixed resolution. Lately I have been thinking what one should buy if they wanted superior resolution. To acquire high resolution some people might drum scan large format film, use ultru sharp lenses like those from Leica or Zeiss, or by larger format digital cameras such as the Hasselblad H series. By making this panorama, I'm trying to show that you don't need to buy a camera that costs more than your car to make one image that has resolution this high. I know this isn't my usual pretty edited images, but I wanted to prove a point before going to sleep.
This image is some what inspired by Ryan Brenizer's bokeh panoramas that enthasize shallow depth of focus. This version only enthasizes resolution. I chose to use the aperture of ƒ/8.0 because it is one of the best performing apertures on this lens (EF 50mm ƒ/1.8 II), it has no vignetting to hinder the panorama and it is supposedly provides enough resolution to outresolve the sensor of the Canon EOS 1Ds Mark III. The only problem with using this lens at ƒ/8.0 is that the bokeh takes on an unpleasent pentagon shape that isn't usually desired, I wish that the lens had a more circular diaphragm. This image does show a shallower depth of focus than normal though, because it is a panorama of images taken at the same relatively large aperture (for larger format), it creates an image that mimics the shallower depth of focus of a larger format camera (since many images were stitched together).
About the Photo

I shot this on a tripod using mirror lockup and a 2 Sec. selftimer. I overlapped 48 images by a third to create a panorama. I did 6 rows and 8 columns. I opened CS4 and went to automate under the file menu and chose photomerge. I did the first four rows of 8 photos but in the end, the top row wasn't merged into the final panorama because CS4 had a problem working with it. The fifth row I made into three panaramas because CS4 couldn't handle the row all together. I made the first four photos in row 5 into a panorama and used the other 4 photos to make 2 separate panoramas. For the sixth row I made 4 separate panoramas because CS4 wasn't able to work it out for me, in this row each panorama had only two photos. Then I merged the third and fourth rows together. Then I merged the fifth and sixth rows together. Then I merged the second row with the panorama with both the third and fourth rows. Then I merged the Panorama with the second, third, and fourth rows with the panorama with the fifth and sixth rows. Finaly I tried to merge the top row with the panorama of all of the other rows but it didn't work no matter what I did. At one point I ran out of virtual memory and had to use my secondary hard drive. I also had to clone out some overlap areas where CS4 left little lines. This is kind of SOOC for me in a way because I didn't really edit the pixels at all other than that I stiched the panorama together and removed the seams. I didn't convert to sRBG colourspace this time so the colours are flat. This took me three and a half hours to make and crashed my computer once. When I was done with the panorama I was too tired to really bother editing, so I just uploaded it.

Yet more photos and more final edits! I was up at 4:30 AM the past four days shooting sunrises! Awesome sunrises over Point Dume thie time of year in Malibu.
Then I spent all day today moving over 75 large photos into the gallery! Most of these are framed and matted with 13"x19" metallic prints and an 18"x24" mat and a 3" wood-grain black frame! They look awesome! Stop on by Bel Air Camera's Gallery downstairs if you are close to UCLA or in Westwood. Give me a head's up, and I will meet you there if I'm free.
I thought I was done a couple days ago for December's LA Gallery show, but art is never done until it's done, and even then. . . Will be busy printing and framing in nice large, matted formats and frames and museum glass! Five of these photos will be printed on 40" x 60" floating wall mounted metal sheets! I think I know which--will share photos of the photos hanging on the walls!
And I am mounting some on plexiglass/acryllic--front mounting them! Some I am printing on lossy fuji-crystal archival paper too, and then front mounting 40"x60" versions to plexiglass--will send photos!
The secret to HDR photography is that you want people to say, "Woe dude--that's unreal!" And not, "Dude--that's not real!" "Unreal" is the word they use when they're trying to figure out the photo--what makes it cool--is it a photo? Is it painted? How'd it come to be--how'd you bend the light that way? "That's not real," is what they say if you have the saturation/HDR/ etc. turned up too high. :)
Some (almost) final edits for December's Los Angeles Gallery Show! Printing them on metallic paper at 13" x 19" and mounting and framing them on a 4mm 18x24 white mat and 2" dark wood frame. Also printing some 40" x 70" whihc is over three feet by five feet! Wish you all could come (and hang out with the goddesses)!

DC-3 photographed at EAA Airventure, Oshkosh, Wisconsin. Panasonic Lumix GX-8, processed in DxO 5 PL, and Topaz Gigapixel AI - scaled to 80 megapixel image.
Sky conditions were very smoky from western wildfires. I had to process the heck out of this image to give it some character.

This was a real Sony Mavica photo of a real sunset with silhouettes of the grouping of three most prominent trees. I took it at holiday time and the Christmas music I heard often was about We Three Kings of Orient Are. I made up my own silly title with that song in mind. Silly is good if it doesn't hurt anyone and if it makes you smile.
I slid this image on September 9, 2018 for the Sliders Sunday group on Flickr. Part of the scene is on and near Pigeon Butte at Finley National Wildlife Refuge in Corvallis, Benton County, Oregon.
"If you are tempted to criticize the size, resolution or quality of this image ~ please don't ~ I used a Sony Mavica Digital (sub-megapixel) camera, which was State of the Art in 1999 ~ Digital Cameras have since come a long way"
For Dave C., the *soul* on this one is not only did it involve me taking a scenic shot in a beautiful place, but in that Christmas Carols were fully heard on my radio station at the time I was trying to think of a title for it.
