What i see
is not what you see
What i see
is conflict
is contradiction
is chaos
packed inside tight
pushed up against
my ribs
my brain
my soul
With every encounter
with every interaction
a little piece of me goes missing
weakening the coping mechanism
until it seizes up
wearing me down
from the inside out
until I'm replaced
Making you feel uneasy
Now the real me is gone and forgotten

We had a shooting assignment in my camera club to do a photo series, with some limits. The required limit was using the same focal length in all images. The other one I chose was "in camera double exposure."
I have gone through a lot of emotional ups and downs in the past several weeks, and decided to do self portraits to convey my feelings, emotions and vulnerabilities.
So there are six in the series. I used my Lensbaby Velvet 56, and with each double exposure, I also moved while the shutter was open to create more of an abstract effect. I will be posting them, interspersed with my other posts.
#1 in Self Portrait series
Introduced plant species now outnumber the known species of Australian natives, botanists say. About 27,500 introduced plant species have made their way into the country, compared to 24,000 native plants. Many environmental weeds are successfully invading ecosystems. They have escaped from gardens and farms and are invading creeklines, woodlands and coastal areas. Many of these plants are fast growing and have highly successful reproductive and seed dispersal mechanisms, including abundant seed production, seeds that remain viable for many years, and fruit and seeds that are attractive to birds and mammals. They often have few predators or diseases to keep them under control in their new habitat. The pictured species is the seed setting stage of Stinking Roger, Monoculus monstrous. florabase.dbca.wa.gov.au/browse/profile/29418

Sundance will typically start his marathon nap with all appendages tucked in his bed. However, if one comes near a back paw will pop out and extend apparently an effort to prevent his being disturbed.

The Indian peafowl (Pavo cristatus), also known as the common peafowl, and blue peafowl, is a peafowl species native to the Indian subcontinent. It has been introduced to many other countries.
Indian peafowl display a marked form of sexual dimorphism. The peacock is brightly coloured, with a predominantly blue fan-like crest of spatula-tipped wire-like feathers and is best known for the long train made up of elongated upper-tail covert feathers which bear colourful eyespots. These stiff feathers are raised into a fan and quivered in a display during courtship. Despite the length and size of these covert feathers, peacocks are still capable of flight. Peahens lack the train, have a white face and iridescent green lower neck, and dull brown plumage. The Indian peafowl lives mainly on the ground in open forest or on land under cultivation where they forage for berries, grains but also prey on snakes, lizards, and small rodents. Their loud calls make them easy to detect, and in forest areas often indicate the presence of a predator such as a tiger. They forage on the ground in small groups and usually try to escape on foot through undergrowth and avoid flying, though they fly into tall trees to roost.
The function of the peacock's elaborate train has been debated for over a century. In the 19th century, Charles Darwin found it a puzzle, hard to explain through ordinary natural selection. His later explanation, sexual selection, is widely but not universally accepted. In the 20th century, Amotz Zahavi argued that the train was a handicap, and that males were honestly signalling their fitness in proportion to the splendour of their trains. Despite extensive study, opinions remain divided on the mechanisms involved.
The bird is celebrated in Hindu and Greek mythology and is the national bird of India. The Indian peafowl is listed as of Least Concern by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN).

The mill and the house were built together. In mudroom, there is a mechanism of mill and fullery.
The mills were equipped by a large overshot wheel, able to move a massive shaft and other gears of the mechanism, including grindstones, by power of rather small stream of water.
Watermill. Mill on the creek. The flow of water turned the millstones. So our grandfathers were grinding grain.

Rescue 3 was a medium tug, mainly used near space stations. It was equipped with a pair of extendable magnetic clamps. The tug's colour scheme indicated its emergency role.

When I built my hydrogen tanker for SHIPtember, I trialled some hexagonal shapes. Unfortunately, I didn't have of enough bricks to make it over 100 studs long. This ship is only 42 studs long and doesn't require an internal frame for strength, like a SHIP might do.
There are more images and a video of the magnetic clamps' pantograph mechanism on Instagram.

Theo Jansen, born 14 March 1948, is a Dutch artist who began in 1990 to build large mechanisms out of plastic (PVC) tubing that can move on their own. Known only as Strandbeest, his animated works are a fusion of art and engineering. In a car company (BMW) television commercial, Jansen says: "The walls between art and engineering exist only in our minds." He strives to equip his creations with their own artificial intelligence so they can avoid obstacles by changing course when one is detected, such as the sea itself. (Source: Wikipedia edited)
