Wings

by Anthony West

If I had wings to fly

I'd breathe in deep

and spread them wide

as I leap from the cliff

into the wind

where the gulls glide.

Crossing this wide sea

I glide above cruel waves

that reach up to drown my flight

in their cold

deep

blue-green graves.

And as your day grows slowly light

I'd arrive on worn-out wings

to hold you

in your waking dreams

and feel you soft

and gently warm

in my embrace at last.

My new bunny! And a fun new blonde wig that I got from my friend Crisa.

Pentax ME Super

All patriotic this week. The chins have nothing to do with it - I just can't resist photographing them. They're so affectionate with each other now.

Polaroid SX-70 Sonar

A quick self-portrait taken just before I left for the wedding. Few self-portraits show me with any sort of smile, since I usually am struggling with apertures, distance, self-timers and such. But this was shot from the hip on a happy day.

Selfreflection in Amsterdam. Taken with a Sony HX200V. No editing, no magic tricks, no Photoshop :)

This month I am celebrating my 7th Flickr Birthday...I would have never thought that this thing would be so much fun and have such an influence on my life when I opened my account in 2006. I want to thank all of you lovely people for making it such a great experience, and of course also a big thank you to the Interwebs for offering such interesting ways to share part of our lives with the rest of the world...on to the next 7 years :)

Capturing my shadow while taking a this picture.

Located in Quincy, MA, these steps are part of a structure built in the 1930s: The O'Rourke Field field house was one of the thousands of Depression Era New Deal type projects. The crack across the width of the top step is likely due to the building's settling (it is located in an area that periodically floods due to its proximity to Furnace Brook). Otherwise the stone building itself is fully intact and still used to support the many activities of the O'Rourke Playground, named after John J. O'Rourke, a South Quincy resident wounded in WWI.

A sepia version of the photo of me.

As I said in my comments on the other photo, I hate having my photo taken so you are very lucky to see this :-)

Geez I hate being on the other side. Was teaching my wife a few tricks so I had to surrender. This shot I quite liked as I normally look like an idiot. My wife said I had sad eyes. Whatever. :-)
