I make you feel a way you've never felt before
And I'm all you need and that you never want more
Then you'd say all of the right things without a clue
But you'd save the best for last
Like I'm the one for you
hi there.
I am extremely happy right now.
This is me attempting at sharing my feelings/reflections:
First of all, I want to thank my parents for giving me the best gift I could have ever imagined- my first dslr, a Nikon D3100. With little knowledge (I mean who reads the instruction manuals anyway) I just unwrapped my new beauty and started shooting. At first I was completely amazed. How can it focus like that? How does it do that? Why is that blurred background so gorgeous? Bokeh? What can I say, I fell in love. After a while, i rediscovered my flickr page, that I had started in the summer of 2009, but for some reason abandoned soon after. Never mind that stupidity, a little bit over a year ago, I started uploading some photos and I started to explore.
The streams and the photos that I found were breathtaking. I had no idead that photography could be so beautiful. What can I say, flickr became my addiction, photography my passion. After a month or so, I already felt pretty confident with my new camera, but I knew that I was still just an amateur. So, as a result, I decided to start a 365 day project. At first, I committed because I was bored, after all it was February in the midwest, (believe me, there is nothing to do), but soon I realized how much this could mean, how much I could grow and I started to challenge myself. Flickr gave me enough inspiration, I had the motivation and a little bit of the creativity that I thought I needed to make this one, fantastic year.
And what a great year it truly was.
I learned and discovered new things every day. I started to explore some minor Photoshop editing, but mostly I just took photos of whatever I thought was beautiful. This project truly became a way for me to journal, but also to express. In our society today, it seems that everyone just wants to be heard, so I figured, I want the world to see what I love.
I know I cheated a lot throughout this project, but that's ok. The pressure of taking a decent photo everyday soon catches up to you. With school and everything else, there were just days, sometimes a week or two, where I neglected my camera, I simply had no time. Also, on some days you just need a break. Photography can wear you out, you feel pressured to capture something beautiful and you get mad when no photo turns out the way you want it to. In the end, I guess you just have to trust what you love. So if I didn't love a photo, I just didn't upload it. Don't get me wrong, I did feel bad about cheating many times, but I got over it.
Anyway, once summer break came, I finally had the chance to photograph 24/7. I still feel that I shot some of my best work last summer. I guess summertime really is magical. Around last October I started to discover that selfies aren't all that hard after all. Here I would like to thank my beautiful new 50mm f/1.8 lens for stepping into my life. You are so far the best 100$ I have ever spent. So, yeah around that time, I started to photograph my pretty face more often and encouraged by others, I continued to do so. Btw, I still do not own a remote, because my camera doesn't work with most remotes, that's ok, I still love you. So, selfies can be very stressful because I have to run and back and forth to reset the timer and then so many pictures turn out blurry. But I continued and I eventually got better, sort of.
Seeing that this is already way too long, here is the long story short:
Over the last year I discovered my passion for photography. I'm sure that I will continue to love it for the rest of my life. I don't know where it will take me. Since I'm only starting college this fall, I still have so many options to choose from, so many paths to take. All I know is that this is only just the beginning of a beautiful life.
I know that I can always count on photography to make everything just a little bit happier. I will continue to do what I love and try to capture the most beautiful moments so that I can save them forever.
Lastly, I would like to thank everyone here on flickr for your amazing support. Photographers are some of the kindest people that I've ever met. I love you <3
xoxo

Oh yes you can, just hold my hand
I think that would help
I think everything is just hitting me and I feel immovable while everyone is just rushing by and I feel so tired and left behind. But I remembered an old song and it made everything seem ok.
Isn't she beautiful?
Dorable and I usually do our annual portrait session some time between Thanksgiving and Christmas. We did it early this year.
It hurts to say this... we did it early this year because she may not be here at our usual time. The cancer is relentless and merciless; the tumor on her liver has already nearly tripled in size. She is still her sweet, adorable self and continues to feel pretty well, but the cancer is taking its toll.
Thank you, dear friends, for all the love, prayers, and healing energy you have sent and continue to send. I know it eases what she is going through. I will continue to be sure she know that she is surrounded by healing love.
Thank you, also, for checking in on us even when I am doing such a lousy job of keeping in touch and keeping you informed. I hope you can understand and forgive my absence.
