Im Back in NY! I meet Louis again in front of B&H and this time I asked him to take my picture. wednesday 34th & 9th.
The Red-billed Teal or red-billed duck (Anas erythrorhyncha) is a dabbling duck which is an abundant resident breeder in southern and eastern Africa typically south of 10° S. This duck is not migratory, but will fly great distances to find suitable waters. It is highly gregarious outside the breeding season and forms large flocks.
The Red-billed Teal is 43 - 48 centimetres long and has a blackish cap and nape, contrasting pale face, and bright red bill. The body plumage is a dull dark brown scalloped with white. The sexes are similar, but juveniles are duller than adults.
The Red-billed Teal lives in inland wetlands, artificial or natural, breeding in temporary pans and dams. It is nomadic, rapidly locating new temporary pans and vleis, rarely moving more than 250 km. It feeds mainly on seeds, with smaller quantities of invertebrates. The female builds the nest, which is a shallow hole, filled with grass and leaves.
This lovely Red-billed Teal was photographed early in the morning preening itself in the shallow waters along the shores of Lake Nakuru, Kenya.

3 is a powerful number.
3 my favorite number for reasons I can't define. I am superstitious, and or OCD in my use of three. I tend to base art work on threes, and use 3 and multiples of 3 in many of my projects.

Spiderman tonight! I heard the reviews weren't great, but we're going with the SF Moviebears, so maybe we'll find some butter for our popcorn.
In honor of Mother's Day, I had my English classes read A.A. Milne's "Disobedience." The kids weren't thrilled with it, but what can ya do. We ended up discussing how very young kids believe that something ceases to exist if they can't see it any more. And the poem reflects that. The Drama classes have been completely off the hook. Yesterday I got hit in the head with a quarter that was thrown across the room. Four more weeks to deal with that bunch.
