In honor of Mother’s Day, the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs is celebrating the moms who have served our country and their accomplishments as mothers.

Mrs. Wollberg served as a WAVE during WWII. She married Clifton Batchelder, a tank commander, three weeks after the war ended. Her wedding dress was made from silk taken from a German parachute.
