sometimes, you just get lucky...what a scene!!! this was the 2nd out of 3 smokin' volcanoes we saw this morning
Another image from my late afternoon session on Mayon Cliff above Sennen Cove. I wanted to show the contrast between the hard rock and softness of the motion blurred water. My main challenge was keeping the camera still in the blustery conditions, so for this one I positioned the tripod in a sheltered position.
Mayon Volcano is the main landmark of Albay Province, Philippines. Rising over 8,000 feet above Albay Gulf, the perfectly symmetrical cone of the stratovolcano dominates the landscapes of the cities of Legazpi, Daraga, Camalig, Guinobatan, Ligao, Tabaco, Malilipot, and Santo Domingo.
Mayon is also a very active volcano; it erupted most recently in 2013 killing five and injuring seven.
Local legend says that Mayon is a beautiful woman and that if she shows her face to you, she is pleased. If not, beware!
Mayon, the most famous of the active volcanoes of the Philippines, is a perfect stratovolcano rising to 2462 m on Luzon Island. It erupts very frequently.
A much more mellow view compared with my recent stormy uploads. If holidays are about creating memorable experiences, then this one hit the nail on the head for all the right reasons. My wife and I left our accommodation by the harbour at Sennen Cove from a cliff-top walk to Lands End. The air was relatively calm and mild, with a mix of mist/spray forming above the sea and at the bottoms of the cliffs, though perhaps less noticeable in this image.
Lava glows while cascading on the slopes of Mayon volcano as seen from Lingnon Hill in Legazpi city, 500 km (310 miles) south of Manila December 15, 2009. Philippine authorities started evacuating about 50,000 people from around the country's most active volcano on Tuesday as it spewed burning mud and rocks. Mayon volcano, famed for its near-perfect cone shape in a coconut-growing region of the central Philippines, started to release lava early this week and vulcanologists are expecting a major eruption in the next few days.
Mayon Volcano (Central Bikol: Bulkan Mayon, Tagalog: Bulkang Mayon), also nown as Mount Mayon, is an active stratovolcano in the Philippine province of Albay, on the island of Luzon in the Philippines. Renowned as the "perfect cone" because of its almost symmetric conical shape, the volcano and its surrounding landscape was declared a national park on July 20, 1938, the first in the country. It was reclassified a Natural Park and renamed Mayon Volcano Natural Park in the year 2000
There's a place for us, somewhere a place for us. Peace and quiet and open air that wait for us, somewhere.
